Thanks for all your comments guys and girls. Lots to go at here. We have a local PCSO involved so that's good. I've contacted the county council re the library and they are looking into how they can resolve it, budget permitting (of course). A youth club opened a while back, but guess what, this particular group don't get on with anyone and disrupted everything, so they were banned. The youth club is successful, just not with this lot. As Poppysarah says, I'll keep reporting it and hopefully in the not too distant future we'll resolve it. Problem is they'll just move on, but I guess if that's the only way to sort it at least they're no longer outside my house. A sad state of affairs. It just makes me feel sick. Not knowing what's going to happen each evening. A couple of weeks back they were bladdered, the police came, waved his finger and drove off. They then went on to cause mayhem. It's this that doesn't help. Happy days!

    And?

They'll find there's nowt very interesting to do when they're older so should learn to find quiet hobbies that they can do in their parents homes.

The street is NOT a playpen for teenagers.

If their parents do not want them hanging about at home in large groups then they shouldn't be doing it anywhere!

OP: Keep reporting the nuisance. Ask if there's a homewatch you can join and attend regularly.

One of our local PCSOs uses a marker pen to label drinks cans (soft drinks - the hard stuff gets tipped out) so she can identify which one is dropping litter.

Thanks for this poppy. Our local PCSO is pretty good. She knows them all on a first name basis, which just makes me so angry. The same mob each and every night. I'll keep on the case. It's just spoiling our home life, esp having only moved in a short while ago.

Could you put up a floodlight/security light that's activated by them turning up .... they won't want to be sitting in a brightly lit area.

Also, if you've got a bloke handy - if he can pop over there after the library's shut and before they turn up and wee everywhere.

I'm going to ask the library to fix the security light, which is currently broken! However, they'll probably just smash it anyway. Every empty drinks bottle end up being chucked in the air and smashes everywhere. The library report this each and every time to the police, so the only good thing is that it's building up a picture.

Talk to your Parish Council, they have a vested interest in keeping the village a decent place to live. They will also have a good liaison relationship with the police.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You cant do anything about it.

    Its their lifestyle choice.

    Best get used to it.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Unfortunately I'm inclined to agree with you.

My friends street is, suddenly, having a lot of trouble with this. The more they call the police the worse it gets.

The problem is the police have little power to do anything about it, and apparently little inclination to use the powers they do have.

Yeah it's real. It's been on the news some time ago. They had one outside a shop to stop the yobs loitering outside but it turned out no one in their 20s with reasonable hearing would go near it so they took it down!

I'm 34 and can hear these things loud and clear. not enough noisy concerts as a teenager i think :)so best check if you can hear it yourself first.

you can find examples online to check.

its annoying enough to cause people to avoid the area if you dont hear it, or have kids who will.

It was actually a one off new build in the middle of the village, next the builders office who built it. There's a school and of course the library on the same street. So, it was never previously up for sale. It's a good area and having spoken to the neighbours the library has never experienced problems on this scale until the last couple of months. The police and PSCOs have actually been really good. They respond within the hour and move them on. Ok it's just response not prevention, but it's something at least.

I agree with this. They do have quite a few powers, however, it would take more resource than they've got to implement them. Here in lies the problem. On this note, this isn't my problem. It's there's. There is a big push on anti social behaviour and along with other things this is what they get paid to do.

We have had several PCSOs in our area over the last few years. One liked the kids way too much for her to be able to do her job properly (she was very young though) ... the ones we've had since have got to know the kids but keep their distance and respect.

Sometimes a trip to the homewatch (the local police bigwigs attend ours as do the local councillors) can work wonders at bringing it to people's attention.
