  • Enjoying the programme(i enjoy most cookery programmes) But,I finaly had a good look through my book last night and I dont like the mish-mash layout,I would've preferred the recipes seperate rather than intermingled,..also it reminds me a bit of Delias how to cheat(and what an outcry that caused !)..the Rogan Josh calls for 1/2 jar pataks paste!,then theres ready made pastry cases, prefilled salad bags, ready made chappatis,im quite surprised at the number of convenience foods in the recipes...not knocking them as such, just surprised to see them there.
Ive also discovered that i dont have a lot of the "essential equiptment"..got a small food processor, but no liquidiser,I dont have lidded fry pans,No griddle pan or muffin cases either...probably other stuff i dont have too, wish id read the essential equiptment page of the book before i bought it.
Altho he does mention that I could buy all essential equiptment for around £300,from Argos and department stores.;)
    Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
    GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)

I'm loving this series and can't see why it can't be done in 30 mins by 'normal' people. He allows time at the beginning to get pans out and ovens on (timer stars at 1min) and none of the veggies etc are ready chopped. He also chops slower that a professional chef would - ok maybe still faster than some people but its seems totally do-able to me... oh and don't forget the ad break is included in the cooking time.
  • Hi all,

OH and I loved this evenings recipes. We've decided we'll have a go at making the whole suite of dishes. We don't like butternut squash though, so we'll use potatoes instead. So that makes it aloo gobi channa saag rogan josh!!

I particularly liked the carrot salad recipe, I think that may become a regular meal plan feature.

And if Patak's curry pastes are good enough for Jamie, they're goiod enough for us! (Conscience assuaged!)

  • I made the piri piri chicken and it took me 40 minutes, but that was because I didn't think the chicken looked cooked enough near the bone at the 30 minute mark. I didn't make the custard tarts, but everything else was done well within the 30 minutes and I didn't feel rushed. Very tasty too!

Love the grater he uses - the flat one that seems really sharp and he grates directly onto dish. Anyone know where I could get similar - or does it tell you in his book ?? - was going to print off recipes but think will treat myself to book. Have really enjoyed this series so far.

Hi, not got he book yet myself. But im willing to bet its a microplane grater, there quie expensive but definitely worth it, they last years and they make light work off any king of grating

He did the risotto part very similar to the way I already did risotto anyway *smug* :D.

Before you all start, no it doesn't take me less than 30 minutes, because I have to chop my onion and garlic up all little by hand! Hmmm, a begging letter to the jolly fat man in red may be in order...
  • Made the piri piri chicken diahes the other day,. It tasted delicious, but certainly didnt take just 30min. Im a bit embarassed to say how long it actually took me.
I also made the filo pastry feta cheese pie which did take about 30min.

I really like this series. Its getting me to do a lot more mid week cooking rather than rely on my frozen batch cooking.
I agree with other posters though. I really dont like the layout. I just went to his website & copy & pasted it back into separate recipes again.
