So nurse now has to do a smear test AND try and remove the coil (and if necessary I may need to go down the full gyaen route :( )

Don't worry yourself unnecessarily about having the Mirena out. I had mine removed last December after about 10 years, just so I could find out where I was up to with Meno/periods etc. It came out very easily and painlessly, no problem.

oh my oh my oh my :j:j:j
This is my level of excitement over my new book New Menopausal Years the Wise Woman Way: Alternative Approaches for Women 30-90.
Now, I'm not advocating any alternative medicine etc. What I am saying is that she is fab at putting a positive spin on changes. Anyone who has read books like Women who run with Wolves will love this.
If anyone wants more info, let me know.
Hoping all fellow menos are doing ok

  • wmf - glad you like the book - it's brilliant isn't it :j:j:j
Certainly helps reassure me when I'm feeling 'freaked' out by various symptoms. Susun Weed has a website which has some interesting stuff & forums which can be useful.

(When I remember) I'm using the nettle infusion and it seems to be helping with the sweats (cos I'm not always hot at the same time? ) just got to try to remember to make it up :rotfl:

well better get going - will try to catch up more later

Nappentass I'm loving the book. I'm reading my way through it, having dipped into it at first (appropriately enough at the sleep disruption bit!). Like you, I find it really reassuring. I have nettle tea but need to do the actual infusion act to get the real thing.

  • I get boxed loose Cotswold Nettle 'tea' (believe it's just all herb) from a local health food store, it's currently £1.49 for 100g - hubby suggested I use an old cafetiere to make it in and must admit it works a treat using that.

Ah I'll look out for that. I bought a standard box of nettle teabags. I didn't expect to like them but I do.
Had a warm couple of days - nothing too bad, just a bit hotter than everyone around me! I'm glad it's February.

    Hello to all newbies :hello:

I just wanted to say ARGGHHHHHHHHHH

I seem to have had a week, that, for the majority of the time, I've been covered in copious amounts of sweat! A couple of bad night time sweats, but especially when I exert myself.

I've not once returned from carrying my shopping home this week where I haven't looked like I'm about to explode, and have thrown of clothing as soon as I've entered the house and then mopped down and then freshened up with baby wipes (if I showered every time I was sweaty, I would actually have to be in the shower the majority of the day)

My whole body is covered in perspiration. My hair (I have a fringe) gets stuck to my forehead because my forehead is wet, and my top lip is a nightmare - and as for my cleavage...the only thing "man enough" to mop that particular river up, is a wad of kitchen roll :rotfl:

I have two massive patio doors which I was cleaning this afternoon. I was drenched after doing one door and had a face the colour of a turkeys backside! I felt like I was going to explode, so with one door done, and half of the other done, I threw everything on the floor, stomped upstairs and got in a shower as cold as I could stand it - what bliss, and what fun!!

Incidentally, I have a friend who is also having a rough time of it, and her GP recommended she take Calcium & Vitamin E for the hot flushes.

Hope you're all having a less sweaty week than I :D

Yikes Hippee - the cold shower sounds just the trick though. I've read that you get some iced thing you can wear as a head band or round your neck but will find out more. You keep it in the fridge. I was really hot walking down the road from the train station yesterday. DD was with me and she couldn't believe I was feeling hot - it is Scotland in February and it was about 5pm but I said i could happily walk down the road in a T shirt. I remember being hot before, one summer though (!) and running coldish water over my wrists - that cooled me down.
