    Evening Ladies,
    Mind if a newbie joins?
Not reall all the posts in this thread just made up to find a menopause thread.
I'mm 44 and apparently im not going out of my mind im ging through the menopause.
have been having awful flushes for quite sometime now, i wake many times in the night and i am drenched from head to toe but due to a blood problem was not allowed HRT.
My dr has just agreed to start me on it (after two yeras of this) and has put me on Climesse, just wondered if anyone has any advice as i find women my own age know nothing as im very young to be on it already.

    Hello Nickybat - Welcome.

I only take a over the counter suppliment which appears to have stopped my night sweats. I don't get them now thank goodness, however I do get pretty bad mood swings & have contemplated asking for HRT but haven't as yet.

You may find that menopause is a subject that isn't really discussed that was one reason why this thread was deemed to be a good idea - to allow women to discuss the menopause & all that entails for us. It was named after a forum 'Menopause Matters' that deals soley with this. I think it was Bronnie who started it & gave us the title - but I may be wrong.

I was advised by my doc about burgen bread - supposed to help with sweats/flushes but not a thing I see much of where I live so I use soya flavinoid suppliment thing - Menopace or any equivalent that I can get cheap. After starting them I noticed a decline in the sweats and after a fortnight they's stopped completely - so That is great. Not great having the disturbed nights & all that burning up feelings.
I hadn't heard of Climesse - has it helped, or is it too soon to tell?

Hope everyone else is well & getting along fine - We have had terrible gales, but am still here!

    Hi Choille,
thanks for a quick reply, You are right it's not something that is discussed much - especially amongst my age group!
I have only been on HRT for a few days so too soon to tell as yet but the disturbed nights are awful, especially i still have a young child and school run along with work to cope with - doesn't really gel well really.
i have just been over to the Menopause Matters, not an awful lot happening there, will keep my eye out tho as i am having a myriad of other problems which i assume go hand in hand with "the change"

Nickybat - welcome to this lovely place of calm:). Sorry you are having such a time with night sweats but hopefully you will be helped by your meds.
I am back to not good sleeps folks and last night didn't get to sleep until after 5 - and that was on the settee with the lights low (to try to fool my mind into thinking it wasn't night, just to see if that would help) and my ipod playing my new Christmas pressie of dawn chorus. I put 3 drops of lavender in some oil/ lotion and rub it into my neck and shoulders before bed and had 3 good nights' sleep early this week, although still wakening in the night but immed falling asleep again. Ah well, this too shall pass. on that note, have been doing more meditation. 'Ah this too' when something unpleasant happens - a thought or a traffic jam, whatever. hhhmmm doesn't fix me overnight :p. I read somewhere that we spend a lifetime learning to want and strive for things so it isn't surprising that thoughts come surging in during meditation. That always helps me accept when it happens.
On the food front - made a pot of lentil and veg soup today with lots of garlic to keep germs at bay. DH doesn't like it so it's just for me. Love it. Been carrying on with the fish eating, nothing of note though as in recipe-wise, just quickies. Had some A$da fishcakes with smoked fish and mozzarella. Couldn't really taste the cheese but the fish taste was good.
Went to TKmaxxxx today and treated myself to some smellies. Have just had a shower and smell all nice :p.
Planning to up my exercise. Don't need to lose weight but I do need to try to tire myself out more to help sleep. Long walks are planned.
Ok folks. Hope to hear how you are all getting on. Keep on keeping on - winter will pass.

NickyBat - Sorry you have the disturbed nights - drove me mad almost & I don't have to get up & out for work as we work from home - so could lie in.
Because of the gales I haven't had much sleep for a few nights & feel really jiggered. It's not been a great Winter for getting outdoors & I always feel better if I can get a good walk in & work done outdoors. I still have had a few periods but pretty erratic so I suppose I'm perimenopausal - technically!
I do hope that the perscription helps you soon. What else do you think it'll help you with apart from the sweats?

wmf - sorry you have the sweats back - what a pain for you. I find lavendar is nice & it is supposed to help you relax. Great that you do meditation - I get the mind jabbers - I have tried in the past but always when I'm very anxious - would be better if I got the hang of it when I'm calm, then could benefit when I was stressed - or is the plan to practice it so you don't get stressed?
TKMax is great if you hit it when it's diserted but it is hard work - too much stuff crambed onto all the rails, but the smellies are good, great - good you treated yourself . I'm trying to use up what I have before buying anything else this year. I am attempting to declutter.

Well I have two pans on the stove filled with water so am away to wash my hair & plait it.

Hi Choille - no night sweats, just can't blimmin' sleep! Do get hottish at night but not hot and sweaty - just sticking a leg out is enough to cool me. B00bs are getting sore again so another period is looming or else not going to turn up for aaaages. Grumpy, me???
I can imagine that the wind has been making a right racket up with you. We've had branches off the trees in the park but it has calmed down now.
TKMax was busy but I went straight to the shampoo etc bit so that was fine, daughter went to get her stuff then we met up afterwards.
Had my hair done - highlighted and cut - on Thurs using a Groupon voucher, so was £29 instead of £104 (not that I would have paid that!!). They put toner on it this time and the colour is much softer. That prompted me to actually go out and buy some nice new stuff. Have been so good at using up, using up but have broken free and made a dash for the smellies ha ha.
Ok, off for last dog walk of the day then jimjams, hot milk and a book. Will apply more lavender oil.
    Good sleeps all

Hiwmf - I get that sleeplessness in phases. I haven't for a while but it is annoying although you should just try & go with it I suppose. I do take Valerian - Kalm tablets & try doing crosswords.

Great with the hairdressers - I haven't been to one in years but I must when I have some money - I think it's over 10 years since I went!

    Slep well.

    Choille,
Not sure really what else it will help me with, will be pleased if it stops the sweats and help me sleep properly.
