Hello All - been a bit down too. Yes the weather does not help as it's been like deluges of rain & gone pretty cold again. It has been a tough Winter & only january yet. I do hope we get an early Spring & it gets better then we can get outdoors a bit more without getting swept or blown away.
wmf - I would have found all the visitors exhausting I think as I'm turning into a bit of a lazy dormouse this Winter & have to force myself to do the basics.
I'm just contemplating doing a volunteering thing for a few hours a month. It would get me out of myself a bit maybe as I've got very hermit like.
I didn't sell much of my fre listed ebay stuff so I'm going to relist this evening & give it another go.
I'm thinkng of getting some starflower oil capsules as they are supposed to help the down moods - anyone tried them? I'm gonna stop the St John's Wort as it isn't making any difference to my moods so no point in taking it.0 -
Hi, I don't have a lot in my handbag (not like I used to do) and tend to wear it on my shoulder. I do need a new bag though and was thinking of getting one with a short shoulder strap, would this be still OK even if its not heavy, I tend to prefer these to the cross body ones.
By the way I used to be like you and carried tons of stuff in a huge bag and it was the butt of my Ex's jokes0 -
I had a frozen shoulder about 3 years ago and it made me miserable. I couldn't sleep for any lenghth of time due to the pain and I was full of aches and pains because I couldn't settle at night. The dr sent me for physio and I was given a series of exercises that really helped.
It could be worth getting a referal

Hi, I am bringing up this subject again as I feel really gross this morning and have done for a while.
My aches and pains are getting more frequent, it hurts me to even take my jumper off or put my handbag on my shoulder sometimes. I am now feeling out of breath when I’ve hardly done anything. Is this the norm with the menopause? When I went to my doctor about it she said the pain is a frozen shoulder and gave me some strong anti inflammatory tablets which I didn’t take for long.
I feel irritable, impatience and about ninety when I am only forty nine.
Is this all hormonal or is my body going downhill?0 -
Hi, I went on HRT when I first started with the menopause but it didn't suit me so I came off it.0

Dog cat -trust me to skim read and edit my post in a hurry - so sorry that you are feeling down (and me saying 'glad you are well'!!). You too, Choille. Maybe it's the time of year as we had that cold snap from November right through until last week(ish) and now it's turned cold again. It's a bit of a struggle.
Re star flower oil - think I sometimes take them as a mix with evening primrose. I took StJ Wort for a while but stopped. Ho hum
re the volunteering. I used to run a volunteer centre and am a keen advocate! It has lots of benefits to you as well as to whatever/ whoever you volunteer for. My last stint of volunteering was dog walking at a local dog rescue. I loved that. I used to go on a Sunday for about 2-3 hours and take out 4 or 5 dogs in that time so they got a good walk and a sniff about. I walked fast so that it was exercise for me too. Lots of opportunities out there. Is there a volunteer centre in Inverness? They would be able to help or maybe have a look online.
Going to watch my son in a play tonight. Really excited about it. Am going on my own as DH is working and DD isn't well with a tummy bug.
Ok, off for a browse then have washing to sort out.
Beautiful day out there - hope the sun is shining on all of you!

Blimey - I've hit a massive low
Started a period Monday, so that's probably the main culprit, but I just cannot shake myself out of it.
It was a glorious day here yesterday (and is today too) - think it was the first time the sun has shone down here since before Christmas, and as much as I didn't feel like it, I forced myself out for a short walk twice, but I felt no better for it.
I couldn't even be bothered to eat my evening meal last night. In the end, I went to bed as it was too much effort to be civil to my OH, and it's not his fault. I'm unable to find the positive in anything...feeling all doom and gloom.
The skin on my face is just awful - so dry. I've got very sensitive skin, and when I was working, I used to use a Nivea cream that was £15 a pot for your face and £15 for eye cream. I certainly can't afford anything like that anymore. I tried the Ald! one that people have been raving about (in the press and magazines especially) and my skin really doesn't like it at all, so I don't know what to try next that I can afford.
Any suggestions at all? Something cheap(ish) and cheerful? I'm currently using one made by S!mple for my eye area, but even that is leaving me with itchy eyes.
It would suit me just fine not to see or speak to anyone at the moment. This will be my third day like it, so it can bugg3r off any time soon.
To top it all - I've got the dentist tomorrow. A filling, and I am terrified, and I mean really terrified of the dentist. I have to have several numbing injections (I take a lot of numbing for some reason) but they still manage to hit a nerve, and I find it excruciating.....think I must have a low pain threshold or something. The way I'm feeling at the moment, if he hits a nerve tomorrow, I may just punch his lights out
choille I used to take Starflower Oil, and I personally found it to be very good. Much better than EOP. I only stopped when I lost my job and funds wont run to such things anymore.
That said - I was wondering if anyone takes Glucosamine and if so, with what results? Cod Liver Oil seems to be no help to me, and I'm unbelievably stiff these days.
Apologies for the negative post - but I guess, this is, after all, the place for it.
Hope you're feeling a bit brighter today choille, dogcat and wmf :grouphug:Aug11 £193.29/£240

Definately period. I'm feeling a lot better but I too had a real downer with it. Really low mood. Scary in fact.
Feel better now though.
Try not to worry too much about the dentist Hippy & don't have any alcohol tonight as that interfers with the anasthetic [sp?] effectiveness.
wmf - thanks for your thoughts on the volunteering thing. I got the pack through & I'll fill it in tonight. It invlves training in councilling skills. I think it will be interesting. I'm gonna apply for it.
I take the glucosamine & I don't think it's that great but my OH does. Apparently you should take the one with Chondrine [sp?] in it, but mine doesn't. Once the mega pot runs out I'll get some of those ones.
I use aldi eye cream & quite like it & I use some Boots stuff - no7 that I got as a freebie. I quite like garnier & I find that Savers do it about half price. I've just finished some Neil's Yard moistureiser that was a freebie on the front of a mag. It was for dry skin & it was wonderful & smelt lovely. If I didn't have dribs & drabs of other stuff to use up & money was no object I would track someof that down. Savers & I think Superdrug do vitimen E cream that is really kind, gentle & really cheap too & actually smells really fresh & nice.
Hope your mood picks up Hippy mine has but it wasn't good, wasn't in a good place for a few days there.
All the best all.
Take care.0 -
hi everyone... not posting much cos not got much to say sorry
hippe i cant use the Aldi stuff either. how about plain aqueous cream?? u could add an essential oil depending on what u want the cream to achieve - if your skin n can take the oils that is
re pain in joints etc i have just been recommended Bromalein as a natural anti inflam (i cant brufen etc) so am going to try that for a while, also tumeric is another one u could try. all the starflower etc oils didnt help me and glucosamine upset my stomach so heres to a new one
xWhen you know better you do better0 -
Hippeechiq - sorry you are feeling so low. Not a nice thing to feel at all. Sometimes going back to bed with a book or something helps. re face cream - if you were ok with the expensive Nivea cream, their tubes of Nivea Soft might be ok for you. I have sensitive skin but can use this on my face. Think it's around £2. i also use aqueous cream sometimes. Also been using that Vaseline Balm stuff and it is great - really thick. I used it on my face when outside when the weather was -10 or whatever blimmin cold temp it was.
Had a microwave meal for my tea tonight!! Just CBA and it was nice not to have dishes. Yes, I used the plastic tray so only had a fork.
I've been hot stuff at night again;). DH is actually complaining about how cold it is here, especially the bedroom and this is unusual for him so it MUST be cold. He wants the heating on in the bedroom I think but I'm like naaaah, getting into an icy bed is just bliss because I know that within 10 mins I will be roasting toasting for the rest of the night. Oh well, hope these hotties fade a bit before summer.
Off out with dogs now.
Sleep well meno buddies.
W
ed to add - more face cream...I am trying the Asda range of Q10 or something - less than £2. I also use Superdrug cleanser - white and pale blue bottle - thick and has no parabens. But...I must admit to being a Clarins girl at heart!0
