  • Until they bring out 'same day transactions' I wouldn't count on this. I suspect there are, behind the scenes, requests going on a couple of days before the transfer is made to make sure the transaction will go ahead - if the money isn't there the DD doesn't happen. (With possibly a charge from your bank.)

Oh. I've already asked for £20K to be transferred due to 'affect' my icesave on Tuesday. Not all the money is in my current account yet and is not likely to be until Monday at this rate. I'm waiting on transfer from YBS isaver, they take ages! I requested it last Monday night thats over 4 working days delay plus the weekend!

I hope the Direct Debit doesn't get rejected due to lack of funds. I'll find out soon. Hope there isn't a big charge for failed DD's from my current account.

after the initial deposit has anybody ever tried to do a CHAPS transfer to your Icesave account from your linked bank account, rather than the tortuous DD pull route?

With their admirable and prompt raising of the rate I'm considering moving a decent sum to my Icesave account and would like to know if I can shift the money on a same day transfer or if I have to wait while the DD wheels grind slowly through the system

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

"A decent sum" means different things to different people but it would not be worth paying £20 for CHAPS for an amount less than £43000.

I would like to use BACS rather than DD. It still takes 3 days but is free and I feel in more control. According to their web site you cant do this but I wonder what would happen if you just did it. They can hardly stop the money arriving.

sorry, I should have clarified a bit more. It's a 6 figure sum, and CHAPS would be the most sensible and cost effective way to move it....if only you could use this method.

of course you can use chaps. There is a line where you are asked if you want to use chaps. I haven`t bothered using it because ice save moves my money quickly and efficiently

thanks, but that option only seems to be for moving money out, as far as I can see. I want to CHAPS money in.

I have used BACS on numerous occasions with no problems, so I see no reason why they would not accept CHAPS.

    Hi

Thought I'd add my query to this thread rather than starting my own.

I have recently set up an account with Icesave, and during the set up I was asked which accounts I would like to link to it. (DD ?)

My plan was to link my current account, and my ING account.

They told me ING would not accept an electronic set up of this.

    So......

What would be the best way to move all my money (Bar a few £'s to keep the account open) from ING to Icesave ?

    TIA

The way I did it was:

Monday AM - Transfer money from ING to current account.
Wednesday AM - Transfer money from current account to Icesave.
Friday AM - Money arrives in Icesave.

Thus my money was in saving accounts over the weekends rather than in transit. Bear in mind for this to work you need to do the transfers in the morning as it takes three working days. I can't think of a quicker way of doing it for free :)

I think I shall have to phone them and ask.

Good luck. Make sure you have at least 1 hour to spare and, if possible, call from work. I'd love to know exactly how many staff they have at any one time answering the phones.
