after the initial deposit has anybody ever tried to do a CHAPS transfer to your Icesave account from your linked bank account, rather than the tortuous DD pull route?

With their admirable and prompt raising of the rate I'm considering moving a decent sum to my Icesave account and would like to know if I can shift the money on a same day transfer or if I have to wait while the DD wheels grind slowly through the system

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I guess nobody has tried it then

    Hi there,
I managed to open an Icesave account, & duly deposited a large lump of savings (~30K). Needed access to some this week, and initiated a withdrawal last week for about £13K. Didn't use the CHAPS option since I didn't need it for a week.
I find now that it has NOT been transferred:
    "
    Status: Rejected
Rejection reason: Insufficient funds available for withdrawal
    "
    Utter rubbish !

So is this some sort of scam ?
I have now requested 2 withdrawals of £3K each to try to get some out (am having to source the other elsewhere to get it quicker !), but I am disgusted with this 'service', and concerned they are now illegally holding on to money.

Have emailed them, but wonder if the Banking Ombudsman needs notifying ? Am I alone in this behaviour ?
(now off to scan the rest of this massive thread !)

    thanks

It gets worse: I had emailed them at customerservice@savings.icesave.co.uk (per their website) with full details of my complaint, and have instead received a message telling me
    "
Delivery to the following recipients failed.
    "
This gets more worrying by the minute :-(
Will need a call in the morning, methinks.

    !!!!!!.

Beware is my advice right now.

  • cfw1994 - how long had the money been in your Icesave account?

The money has to be in your account for seven business days before you can withdraw it. Obviously I can't be sure if that's the problem you are coming across but it was the first thing that popped into my head :)

Well, that could be the answer if your statement was true, the money had only been there 3 or 4 days.....unfortunately, if you read the Terms and Conditions, you will see that:
    "
Funds deposited electronically by you will be available for withdrawal from the next business day."

So they are happy to take my money, but will not pay it back. This concerns me greatly !!!

Any other ideas in the absence of Ice replying to me are welcomed. Anyone know the best way to contact the Ombudsman ?!
    cheers

It is. It may be better if you referred to the updated Terms and Conditions (that I was notified of by email also)? ;)

See my post #362 for a link, item 5b in the t&cs.

Your reading the wrong T&Cs from the ones on line

5b. Funds deposited electronically by you will be available for withdrawal 7 business days after receipt of your deposit.

Thanks folks, it sounds like you may well have nailed this one: the money I transferred earlier today certainly at least appears to have left the account.

Don't recall them sending me any T's & C's, & you'd think they would update the online ones, but hey, if it works !

    Thanks again
