My Nan gives me a food parcel every time I go and visit (weekly) - I have tried telling her we don't need it but she still persists. I have decided that it makes her feel good to be giving us stuff so now I accept it graciously with a big hug and a kiss.
The only way I can get around stuff is by saying we don't like it that much so she doesn't buy it again for us.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

My mam used to make a dish called panackaltee- doubt thats the correct spelling but hey ho! If I remember rightly she started off with a roasting tin, to it you add corned beef cubed, slices of pot, chunks of carrot, onion, liver went in too I think? Cubes of turnip also went in, and a cup of water. The whole shebang went into the oven on a low heat for lomg time. Sure its super cheap 'cos there was 4 of us kids so cash was tight.
Corned beef and beans mixed together was a favourite too, served with beans and sliced white.
Nowadays, about all I do with corned beef is make it into pies, Boil your spuds, add half of the chopped onion to pots- the different texture and flavour of raw and boiled onions is good. I dont eat pies cos I'm a veggy, but the boyf enjoys them. Here's a top tip for pies too- put a spoon full of brownsauce or sweet pickle in with the corned beef/mashed tatty/raw-boiled onion mix, gives the pie an interesting tang!RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I make corned beef pie for my colleagues. My Islamic pals had a moan about this so I had to get Halal corned beef (pricey) and vegetable fat to make Halal corned beef pie for them too. Went down a treat as they had never eaten corned beef before. Some of the lasses asked for my recipe. I’m not a bad cook for a bloke!0

Chop corned beef into cubes, mix in a dish with wholegrain mustard and worcs sauce. Chop potatoes into 1/2" dice and boil for 5 mins, drain and cover with tea towel. Slice onion thinly and fry in hot oil and allow to brown. Add the drained pototes and fry them too - let everything brown. Add the corned beef and stir and warm through.
Delicious with a fried egg on top, and lots of ketchup. (Thankyou Queen Delia).******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

mother-in-law insists on sending up food parcels, and something she regularly sends is a packet (large) of corned beef and no matter how often i try to tell her not to, she carries on, and no-one here will eat it..was wondering is there anyway i can do some sort of a corned beef hash with it-even just a small one for husband..would get another packet to make up the amounts if need be
any ideas..?
I wouldn’t eat it/feed it to mine…throw it out or save it to give to the really needy.
Personally I wouldn’t feed my family corned beef unless it was organic or at least free range… this is exactly the sort of product where it matters0 -
Buy a stewpack of frozen veg, bung them in a saucpan or slow cooker add the tin of corned beef ( Cut into cubes ) and you have a cheap and easy meal.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
