morning guys...im just about ready to start making a white rapid on programme 2(not using the rapid bake button...too much yeast in that recipe for my liking, but may be handy in a "bread emergency";).)..later im planning on a small cheese n onion loaf to go with our macaroni cheese dinner tonight..I vaguely remember making this before and although it was deliciouse there was a bit of faffing around precooking onions etc...so this time im gonna use a recipe from a different breadmaker that just uses onion granules instead....will post how it works out(or not!)Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly

it is a lot of hassle frying stuff before you even start
I've used a recipe from an old Morphy Richards BM book that uses onion powder/granules & it works well, 3 Tablespoons to 3+1/4 cups/18oz/510g of flour
I've also used those crispy fried onions that you get in Asian shops, but you need twice as much of those as they're not as dense as the powder
EDIT ... you might want to try this tasty recipe on the Carr's site that uses spring onion sometime in the future, it's lovely but I found it a bit salty, so I'd probably try 1+1/4 teaspoons salt next time & see how that goes
I'm a bit wary of cutting down the salt after my monster egg enriched bread fiasco0 -

I find the rapid bake cycle brill in an emergency. Its a bit heavier than the long cycles, but still nice. I did the rapid bread prog 2 last night. what can I replace the milk powder with? I hate it! Tried it with cheese in and it works.......any other ideas?:)In the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -

Yes is the short answer. It is not such a significant saving that would encourage me to do it for that reason only though.
I am really loving having a BM for the first time. I love the kenwood and I am delighted I got this model. :j:j:j:j
I love the fact that the bread is fresh, free from additives and I can make a variety of types. I also do pizza dough and it can do jam too amongst other things.
Love the tips here too!:jIn the middle of difficulty lies oppurtunity0 -
