  • been very busy today and just lifted my 3rd loaf from the breadmaker...as planned,i started with a Tesco crusty packet mix, baked well, but looked very pale and tasted odd(that was more to do with the breadmix than the breadmaker),next up was a 1kg basic white...cooked perfectly with a lovely crunchy dark crust, just the way we like them, and just out is a 50/50 white n brown,1kg cooked on basic, looks brilliant, very well risen, wont be slicing it until tomorrow, hope it tastes as good as it looks. :)
PS,got a question,on the display panel under the triangles for weight(and beside the "rise" sign),are the numbers 1 2 3 what are these indicating...I havent noticed any of them highlighting yet.
    Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
    GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)

you sound like you're making up for lost time :D

I can't imagine what possessed them to put that huge unremovable sticker on the machines after they'd obviously spent a lot of time & money on its design
I'll bet yours wasn't the only one returned

I'd never noticed those numbers before, so I've had a quick look in the dreaded instruction book, but can't (at first glance anyway) see any reference to them, strange

unless some of the other owners know, perhaps a call to Kenwood customer services would solve the mystery?

    hi cooking-mama :)
I called Kenwood, & it indicates which of the 3 rises the machine is currently doing, so there will be times during the cycle when none of the numbers are lit up

it makes perfect sense now that I know, but I couldn't for the life of me figure it out earlier :o

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Mortgage-free Glee!
    Morning all,

Last night when I got in from work I chucked some ingredients in and voila I now have a deliciously smelling gingerbread. Don't know if i'm going to manage to not touch it for the recommended 24 hours though

This morning I've put another one in. This time I added a few sultanas. Think I've had them before and are nicer with them in. Still, the proof will be in the tasting tomorrow :)
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

hope you had a good weekend :)

are you going to make the cornbread in your oven or in the BM?

I wanted to try it but I've only got fine cornmeal in, I'm sure it'd work, but I like the sound of the rough texture, so I'll have to wait till I can get to the big shops or an ethnic grocer

I think I'll try it in the oven first

I dont quite know yet, maybe in oven. You have inspired me to try the hand made route too! :D Will also need to wait a couple of days to make to get ingred. I have not been well either, so will have to see how I feel in next couple of days. Weekend was fab though, thanks. Cant wait to get back on track again! :T

it's a baking powder raised bread, so no real kneading involved, you'll spend more time frying onions & preparing the other stuff to go in it :)

I guess if you were to do it in the BM it'd be best to use the Quick Bread programme, as it's more like a cake, might have to fiddle with the timings though

once I get some of the coarse cornmeal, I'll try it in the oven first so I can see what it's meant to be like before I start experimenting
