Two stores that I know of that you can return goods without a recipt are Argos (I have had ot do this many times, and they really dont care, they will refund or exchange right there, argos are fab)

The other is next, they can see when the item was bought from the care label. It has a certain code on them that tells you A) the season it was bought in like summer06 and B) it has an area code to say that it was bought in the Lancs area. (I have a friend who is a manager)

Oh and my sports world has 6 changing rooms. :)

Show off, show off, pick ya nose & blow off :p
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I had a similar incident. I was told by numerous customer assistants i was not entitled to a refund even though under the SOGA i was. I asked for a manager .I told him this was a farce and why this was going on.He said it was a simple mistake . Not one of thier staff knew this policy.

I think we should all report them for "unethical practice" to the Trading Standards. They tell all thier customers they do not give refunds.

The staff replied its thier policy not to give refund. So it that sense they are promoting thier policies. I told them i am not interested in the company policy but the law as this take precedent.

What a farce. Never going back to that shop again . I think the best is to avoid these stores and highlight the problems it creates. Your post has helped. My item was faulty so i was legally entitled to a full refund.

If you bought the wrong item(size/colour) then you are entitled to a refund.Like other posters said you would be entitled to the right size, credit note but not a refund. The law is clear on this.

i get to wear my own clothes for my job now which is cool, but we aren't allowed to wear tracksuit bottoms, although blokes are allowed to wear most things

i am in a quandary now. OH bought trainers from there about 6wks ago, paid cash and can't find the reciept. He only worn them for his hols ( tradition new trainers for holidays) and the sole is coming off now.

They have not been good value but I have no proof, I was going to go into the shop but I imagine i will be sent away with a flea in my ear for lack of proof. Maybe I should write a letter of complaint.

Well rather than trying to go in and get refund or exchange with no receipt would it be very naughty to buy the same trainers again, then return the damaged ones as faulty a week or two later with the receipt you got for the new pair? Surely then they'd have to refund you because the goods were faulty? Not sure if that's too naughty to suggest but I have now:confused:

I don't want to take this thread off topic but do you mean Argos will take goods back without any proof of purchase or just without a receipt but with other proof of purchase.

I know they will do the latter and I have seen a few occasions now where they have refused to take goods back without any proof of purchase being produced. One assistant remarked to me that it is amazing how many of the products being returned without a receipt "were paid for with cash". Our local Argos are certainly wise to a lot of the tricks people play and although a couple of times things I have taken back haven't been checked, one lady who checked every inch of the box on one occasion told me that he had nearly got caught out once and never takes a chance now.
