3 times now. 3 times the mortgage lender says they've sent out the mortgage offer to my solicitor. And its still not arrived.

Solicitor says that the address / DX on the fax copy is right but until I can sign the paper copy issued by the bank I can't complete on the purchase.

Short of going in person to the lenders offices, waiting while they print a copy off and personally driving it over to my solicitors office, I don't know what to do to solve this problem. Anyone got any creative ideas?!

Ah the joys of Royal Mail - sorry to hear of your troubles, I'm guessing frustrated is an understatement ? could they send it recorded/signed for ?

  • So...you know people on here say 'visit the house you want to buy at various times to see what the area is like'? Blimey...am I glad I did! Put in an offer on a house on Friday and the vendor asked for the weekend to think about it.

On our way to the garden centre on Saturday we went past the house and the neighbour was opening the front door, with a bloody great dog (enormous thing, in a muzzle!). We have cats, so I was a bit concerned. Went past there again today and had a sneaky look round the back (there's a cul de sac runs round the back)...dog was barking up a storm in the garden and there was unbelievably loud rap music blaring out.

Think I'll be on to the agent first thing withdrawing my offer. Shame...the house is lovely (although massively overpriced).

    Next!

Bet you are glad you did, sounds nasty! Reminds me to have a good look around any we're interested in, especially for dogs as we have cats too. Have you got any others in reserve?

So, we saw 5 houses yesterday - first had potential, second needed way too much doing and third was ok, but we really liked the last two so pretty much forgot about the rest. They were very similar and even though last one was cheaper, we preferred the other one. Will be going for a second viewing of at least that one and possibly the other this week but think there's a high chance of making an offer. Can't believe we might have actually found somewhere after all the places we've seen *crosses fingers* :)

  • There's been one I've been eyeing on RM, which I thought was too small...but with hindsight it might be just right. It certainly has potential. Plus, a guy who works for my company on a freelance basis lives on the same street and sings its praises. Best of all, it's up for under 250k...and I'm a ftb.

Congrats on finding 2 to choose from!

We completed on Friday. I think I must have aged about 10 years in the last 4 months. One fall through just before exchange, and this one felt like collapsing over the finish line with a nano second to spare.

    Phew.

Its amazing to wake up every morning and the first thing I think about isnt where we're at with the house, which person in which part of the chain hasnt done what, or who I have to chase at 9am.

    Relieved is not the word.

I'm sick of there being no choice on the market. We've viewed every house on the market and nothing meets our requirments. I've now decided that there's nothing under 250k in my area that's any good and I'm going to have to rent for about 8 months to save up the money I need to pay stamp duty on something over 250k.

It's a joke, I'm not made of money and don't want to stretch myself too far. I'm hoping prices will dip enough at the end of the year to bring the current 270-280 stuff down to the 250 bracket. People don't seem to want to budge on prices in this area and nothing new is coming to the market and nothing old is selling :(

We've just had an offer refused on the only house we've liked, all the 'new' properties that show up as in the last 24 hours on rightmove are not newly listed houses at all, but one's which have changed agents/amended descriptions/changed prices (from £124,950 to offers over £120,000 lol!).

But we're lucky in that we're not in a rush to move so I think either our offer will eventually be accepted, a new house we like will come on the market or a house that's currently on the market but above our budget will be reduced
