Did you watch the link Ceridwen, it's worth a watch just to see Heseltine doing typical politician waffle and the wry smile on Ken Loach's face x

I've watched a lot of politicians waffling in my time - but might head over for a laugh at some point.

The only time where I've watched a politician (not Michael Heseltine I hasten to add...) and been aware of anything other than waffle was when I was listening to one that turned my stomach to ice watching him and I warned someone else nearby who might have inadvertently done so never to cross him ever. You dont want to know what that politician got up to later_pale_
. I aint saying who he is on the Board - I DO have some sense of self-protection:rotfl:

    lilmisskitkat,
Wow! I wish I'd met your hen night freind years ago if she can magic money out of thin air, I need never have been dragged to court or had the bailfiffs in.

What's with the emotional blackmail? ''If you really wanted to go you'd find the money?'' maybe you do want to go, but you can't afford it. It's not rocket science is it?

    What's wrong with these people?

If the sods in Downing Stree were half as decent and wise as the ladies in this forum, then the country would be a far better & fairer place to live in. And I hope the sods read this !
And I too hope there will be a LOT of civil unrest !

<whispers> I wouldnt mind betting that a few politicos DO actually pay the odd visit to MSE...and maybe even to this thread....

  • My hen night was inviting my friends round to mine, mostly because that was all I wanted but also because most of them are broke! I was going to pay for a take-away for everyone but everyone brought so much food that we didn't need it in the end!

I don't think any true friend should expect you to pay out money you don't have and any true friend should understand if you can't afford it. If they don't then they obviously don't care enough about you for there to be any reason for you to turn your life upsidown to please them!

Found a data Entry one for 37.5 hours a week that is £15K a year. I'd be taxed about £140 a month on it but that would still mean I was bringing home £1,000 after NI contributions and tax. Might apply for it and see what they say. Owen has said if I find a job that brings in £1000+ a month he would stay home to have kids so would save us on childcare.

:money::lovethougDoes that about sum up my verdict on that?:)

  • Thank you so much for all the replies, i feel lots better now. I suppose i just dont have much confidence in my own decisions and seek reassurance a lot that i'm doing the right thing :o

Had similar earlier this year (gosh dont have much luck with other people's weddings lol) when my cousin decided to get married abroad and got the huff because not everyone in the family went. She was all "Oh its only 2k  for the week and you can make it your holiday this year"

Erm, our holiday this year was a caravan in Norfolk for the week and we scrimped and saved for that lol, never mind 2k, passports, clothes etc :rotfl:

Thanks again all, now i've broken the 'lurker' ice i'd like to post more often if thats ok, all these price increases etc have got me worried :(

  • Talking about hen/stag nights having to be abroad/cost a fortune Ive had the dilemma of 3 of us being 40 around the same time. One friend who is very well off suggesteda long weekend abroad. I couldnt go because of childcare issues (well off friend said she wasnt going on holiday with kids, she doesnt have any). The friend who went who doesnt earn as much was worried sick about money, the well off friends suggestion was to release some equity in her house or get a loan!!!! Luckily my lesser off friend saw sense and took what she could. Needless to say me and the well off friend are not as friendly as we were, she just doesnt understand we dont all earn huge amounts and tuts if you say your skint/carnt afford something.

For my 40th Iam having a new bathroom. Im sick of people expecting me to spend a fortune on a holiday beacuse Im 40 so Im rebelling and have asked for B & Q vouchers.

Todays good news is my car passed its MOT!
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round
