Hello everyone,
I've been reading on and off all day - and but now I forget all the things I wanted to say to people. I wish the multiquote button would let me reply to more than 3 people cos that used to remind me!
Anyway, I DO at least remember (cos I read it all of 2 seconds ago) that LannyLee and Sammy have had good news ... so yay for that, am delighted for you!
Shelley, sorry to hear you have fibro too. The rheumie said I have that as well as ME. I know what you mean about people not understanding. I'm not sure what to tell people really, I don't want to moan every time someone says "how are you?". But people don't seem to realise I just can't do what I used to.
Kezlou, hope you've recovered from the episode with your neighbours. How on earth can they blame you for their lack of money? Don't let them get you down, once your conscience is clear - stuff them! Sounds like you had a lovely time with your friend - I like cheap and cheerful outings like that.
I am feeling mighty pleased with myself. I think I must have been energised by HariboJunkie's poetry ... I hereby appoint her the Old Style Poet Laureate to keep our morale raised whenever the inspiration takes her!I have pottered around doing a little cleaning ... not much, but I feel better for it. There is SOOOOO much to be done and I have barely scratched the surface but I think the trick is to focus on what I have done and not on what has yet to be done. And I brought in a couple of buckets of coal because it is chilly and grey and I will light the fire this evening. So now I am making myself sit down and rest rather than use up all my juice and later I will empty the dishwasher and heat up dinner.
Hugs to everyone who'd like one. xxxTrying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

I use bottles of the stuff, but dont think I like the smell as much as lavender. I remember de-lousing my daughter when she was 5yrs old with tea-tree. Magical stuff!:) I used it for months in her hair to keep them away too.

Well, it's still tough here, but have had some good news today (I think).
I'm on my last nursing placement with 5 1/2 weeks to go, and there are NO jobs. None, I tells ya! So, the other day, I went with the other student to see my manager there just to have supervision and a bit of a whinge about the jobs situation.
Long story short, my manager told me today that although they can't promise a permanenet job, they are able to offer us both full time bank positions from the middle of November when we finish until the end of March, and then it'll be reviewed :j
So, not brilliant, but it's a job with guaranteed hours and money, and it'll allow us both to look for other jobs in the meantime.
On the downside, uni have managed to mess up my hours, so it now looks like I was never in this year! Basically, they've got me down as having missed 72 hours in 3 years, and these are logged as unauthorised absences . I know I missed some sessions, but only few, and I always let them know, none of which is logged. I'm in the process of sorting this out, but am worried that if people request references from uni in the meantime, this will go against me.
Does anyone have any experience of dealing with this kind of thing and how will prospective employers view this, if all my references are excellent and my academic and placement work is fo a high standard?

My worst mistake on qualifying was not to have joined the bank prior to qualification. Often if you are good then when a full time position comes up you have a better chance of getting the job as you know the hospital. It provides an opportunity to network. It also provides breathing space to find a job you want. It also gives you experience as you will be competing for jobs with the next cohort to graduate -often in 6 months time.
However it is scary being on bank as a newly qualified, but in our place you are never put in charge of the shift so it gives you a chance to find your feet....normally 'experienced' people like myself get lumbered with the NIC role despite being only qualified 12 months myself.......0 -
Annie G --- where in south wales are you?? Im in Port Talbot.
Have decided to spend my winnings wisely.
Have therefore decided on a big 15kg bag of IAMS for small senior dog. Have a bin that is used for dog food so it can stay in the kitchen. This is £37.78 (but as its over 6kg it is free delivery)
a Halti for pooch (its hard work walking him with the buggy and a harness is just making him pull more so hoping a Halti will help resolve it as it means I have control of his head) This is £8.23
So I'm left with £3.99 so figured Id treat him to a jumbone and a pack of Markies and it came in total to about £49.:D:D:D:D:D love it. That's pooch taken care of till about Xmas though I think so hoping to save up the same amount over the next month or so in what I would have spent in food so I can keep him on it and keep getting big bags.

"........watching from afar, Mr Tiddles knew he would never be found in time for his veterinary appointment..........."
Was landed though with that prize. Also had a phone call from the post code lottery too earlier after they sent me the free £12 earlier - they want to ring back later to help me get the £12 off my card but figure I might use that to buy some tickets with and give it a shot. Anyone ever had any luck with them?
Congratulations to all those with new job prospects or news.Time to find me again0 -
Well done on your wins Sammy. I wouldn't blow your £12 on more cards though, pay it off your debts or buy some food for next week.
On the flea subject, for dogs (prob the same for cats but check!), garlic helps to repel fleas, we can't give our dog chemical flea treatments so we mix garlic flakes (you can get powder) into her food. Ironically when she was being treated with the chemical treatment we always found fleas on her. Since we stopped, she's had none!Piglet

I mix tea tree oil, lavender, citronella and a little bit of clove oil (though clove oil can irritate some peoples' skin) and dilute it in a small spray bottle with a bit of water and it makes a very good mosquito repellant so that ties in with what you are both sayingIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

I made a start on some housework-y type stuff last night...at least I put away some things that had been left out and did a clothes wash but our laundry basket is full to the brim again
DH and I have agreed to really get everything put away where it should be and clean top to bottom at the weekend then after we've done that we can keep up with things by sticking to the cleaning schedule I wrote months ago and stuck on the fridge and it will take less than 30 minutes a day to keep up with things. I do want a clean and tidy house and I want to know that if my friends want to visit I'm not embarrassed by the untidyness and don't have to spend ages rushing round tidying before they arrive. One thing that is difficult in the winter is that we don't have anywhere to dry our clothes, our house is a 60's semi with a teeny tiny galley kitchen and a useless narrow extension on the back where the washing machine lives but no space for an airer so we have to put it in the dining area so I can see it from the living room...it all makes me feel really untidy having our washing drying in the dining room but there's nowhere else to put it because of the layout of the house and when it's as cold, wet and horrible as it is now I can't hang it outside. So annoying!
Get paid tomorrowtrying to work out exactly what I have to spend after repayments and am going to really focus on sticking to that budget as this month I really don't have any room for being flexible with spending.
can u string up some washing line at ceiling level in your narrow extension, even if it was just one piece along its length you may be able to get quite a bit of washing hung up .i realise i may have imagined your extension wrongly, but if its just got the washing machine out there it may work, although depending on ceiling height/length of washing you may have to duck under any hanging washing!0 -
lambana - Have you got space for a retractable washing line somewhere - either in your bathroom or some other room? I've got a four line retractable one in our bathroom which pulls out over the bath and which I wouldn't be without as it really helps with drying laundry in wet weather. I can even wash my "smalls" and let them drip dry over the bath when it's pouring with rain outside. If you Google "retractable washing lines", you'll find various models available on Amazon which might work somewhere in your house or even in a garage.0
