On a brighter note, just had some good news, DH might have a new job in the new year, a bit less money but loads more job security. Was getting a bit sick of the accountant handing out their pay-slips with the warning "it's lucky you all got paid this month, next month might not be so lucky, make the most of it"
Joke or not, it's just not funny, makes me angry just thinking about it :mad::mad::mad::mad:

So hopefully he can give his notice at the end of November off for 10 days over Xmas until 4th Jan & start the 6 weeks training for his new job - well that's the plan :o

You're joking?! Strewth! I'm not surprised it makes you angry! It made me angry just reading it! My god! It's enough to make you want to flatten the accountant every time you opened your wage packet!

There are times to joke and times not to - and the possibility of losing your job is no laughing matter. I've got a pretty good sense of humour, but that's just taking the you-know-what

Fingers crossed for OH getting this new job hun :)

That's good news Sammy, well done. I agree with Frugal, if you can get a load of dog food and store it somewhere it might be helpful. I'd even offer you my garage but I think you're quite a lot further west in Wales than me!
My interview yesterday went well, I think! I've got another one tomorrow morning, and am waiting for the agency to ring me back about a third. the one I'm waiting to hear about sounds really interesting and I'm desperately trying not to get my hopes up about it because it's with what seems like a really brilliant organisation. So, I'm sitting here with crossed fingers again!!!
It's really getting cold now, no sunshine today. I went to bed in pj's, socks and a big hoody sweatshirt last night and took ages to get warm in bed. I think I'll get my hot water bottle out tonight, and maybe an extra cover as well. I meant to go to Asda today to get fleecy blankets but didn't want to go far in case they rang to arrange the interview - the chap rang this morning and asked if I'd be able to go today at short notice and I said I could, so I've been in limbo all day, just waiting.
I'm waiting for ds to get home from school now so we can make chocoalte crispies :0) he really enjoys cooking, and although this isn't proper cooking it's nice for us to do something together.
Say what you mean.. mean what you say... without being mean.
  • DS has woken up full of snot again. He's 5 months old & has had an obvious cold since Monday morning. No temperature but more of a cough seems to have shown up today and he sneezed a nice trail of snot down his bib this morning... ick!!

So, he's dosed up on Calpol and I've put olbas oil drops on some old socks under his cot sheet and a couple of drops on his babygrow underneath his bib. Hope he shifts it soon as it's not nice being ill, poor little thing!

He's showing zero interest in feeding himself. I tried him on some carrot slices yesterday, he ignored them & some raspberries today, which he also ignored. He just sits in the high chair with his 'neglected baby' face on so that I eventually give in and take him back out of it!

I am making some experimental bread in the BM to use up the remains of the banana we first tried feeding him. I've stuck various things in it like cocoa powder, cinnamon, hazelnuts & even a tablespoon of Nutella that we had left in the jar! Could be a total disaster but at least I know DH will eat it however it turns out!

  • Don't know if it's helpful KEZLOU, but I managed to get rid of fleas with lavender essential oil. My DD is allergic to cat flea medicine and everytime we treated the cats she'd have to stay at a friends for a few days. Then somewhere on the internet I read about lavender oil (sorry I no longer have the link). I emptied a little bottle of the oil into a spray bottle, diluted with water and sprayed all the furnishings, mattresses and carpet in the house. Apparently the fleas hate it and although they don't die they flee your house pronto! We also started mixing a bit of brewers yeast into the cat food and Ginger was never bothered by fleas again.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

That is really interesting! Love the smell of lavender too! :T
