  • Logged on early today with the intention of restarting Flylady. I thought I'd get some nice surfing peace with my cup of tea as DS2's school is open again and I am in the house alone. Cue noise at the door - Ds returns saying the bus hasn't turned up! Ah well, 20 mins at a freezing bus stop has chilled him, his belly is cold so after bundling him in a duvet and making a hot drink he seems to be warming up - still doesn't regret his fashion jacket though, teenagers?!
We've just had pancakes from the freezer (made a big batch a few weeks ago), Ceridwen if you're looking for an alternative to bread for brekkie, yum with some micro-ed frozen berries!

    It's only a game

Cranky if his room is very bad it will be too overwhelming for him to do on his own. You could clear it with his help this time and note how long it took. And if he gets fed up just say if you don't get it in this mess it will not take this long again.
Adequate storage is essential so everything has a home.
After that do daily inspections and you could do a pick up ten things game until he gets into a routine of putting things away.
Kids of that age need you to be specific about what you want them to do and one thing at a time is best. Clean up your room will not tell him what he needs to do. It takes effort on your part but it will cut down the problems later on.

My youngest daughter was a neat freak and I really missed her when she went to school. She was the only one that knew how to clean the top of the cooker without using a whole bottle of cleaner.
She also used to tidy the shared bedroom after we came back from dropping the others at school. I never taught her this it is just in her nature. She has three boys of her own now and her home is always tidy, although the boys do make their rooms messy they do tidy afterwards.

Quick - back to Old Style....anyone care to share substitutes for bread for breakfast?

Depends why you are substituting I think....run out or intolerance or bored.

I have been known to serve polenta instead of fried bread with an otherwise English Breakfast.

Aha, thanks Ceridwen. I only know what I've heard on the news and they hadn't reported that. IMHO transparency is something to be encouraged ... we're more likely to get accountability that way. Re bread for breakfast - I never bother with as I always have some sort of cereal. Although that might change as I bought lemon curd yesterday so I can see toast and lemon curd featuring prominently in the very near future! Very occasionally if it's more of a brunch than brekkie I have pancakes nomnomnom. :D

Awww, so sorry they rescheduled - it's awful when you gear yourself up for something and then it doesn't happen. I hope that they reschedule it soon so you can get it over and done with. Sounds like you've got a good plan for the day though.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Ceridwen..what about croissants and hot choclate for breakfast...waffles with maple syrup is a fave in our house..my personal fave is waffles, smoked crispy bacon with maple syrup all over it..sounds sickly..but its not honestly...the syrup and smoked bacon compliment each other...
    Parsonswife..thanks..i hate being let down..
Nualabuala..thank hun..i have got an extra day to day..instead of being there i can get cracking at home...
O and hubby thinks me getting cancelled today is a sign that i'm not meant to have it done...don't think so..its not him that has to go through the whole process of being pregnant and giving birth..its me..so he can fluffing well keep his signs to himself...love him dearly but gosh he is sentimental at times...

Thanks cranky dont think my 4year olds too impressed as most people non townspeople have shop brought costumes.
Had to do some serious alterations last night was up to 1am finally happy with it.
Tried it on her this morning its still a tad wide, but better in length told her theres this or nothing worked so hard on it. Hubby says we will truly look poor with homemade costume wish he be more supportive and take an interest as its been a nightmare!

Was freezing today. light dusting of snow on ground and some snow on school run.
My 15month old screamed all the way as hates the cold despite being wrapped up.The 3wheeler has another punture. I ended up late for school again had to sign daughter in at reception, hubby forgot to make daughters packed lunch.
I do hate mornings so stressful could see lots of mums looking as youngest had meltdown! Hoping pickups better and warmer!

Hubbys spoken to his bos hes managed top get thur off so he has the baby all day and drop off puickup of 4half year old will be nice for him to see what my lifes like!
I have to get early bus then 2trains to wales for funural.
Although that in itself be nice break for me I weirdly like to be on trains, used to do lots of train travel in uni as boyfreind was up north if I managed to get a seat in quiet carriage then it was quite relaxing and peaceful but commuter trains are awful!

Both mine messy feels liek losing battle do try to keep lounge/diner tidy and do bit each day.
The girls bedrooms desperatly need sorting as does ours.

re internet-facebooks down today had few problems with it.
Used paypal yesterday that was fine.
    Find wiki leaks fascinating.
According to news the criminal charges in sweeden have been dropped but then restarted.
Hes afraid to go over sweeden as theres the possibibilty they may extradite him to usa as they desperatly want him.
I cant belive uk signed extradition treaty for uk people but not vice versa.
But boss of wiki leaks is australian so not sure if they can .
I like to think its nice hes sees uk as safe haven.

Feeling slightly uneasy about media and information censorship latly.
especially thing about fifa whos corrupt and them blaming the paper and panorama for losing bid even some people I respect said programme should have been held back which would have looked even worse.
In truth if fifa is to bring the game(I hate footie by way)to new audiences then uk never really should have wasted their 15million as dont meet the criteria although I suspect the 2022 in dessert will just be awful!

Also with wiki leaks they got handed the info. then they published and worked with newspapers in several countries. America just in a strop and trying to censor, blooming sarah palin said he assange should be killed!

Still intresting what us thinks of us. Think we should try and distance ourselves more from usa as to quote words of hugh grant in love actually whats so special about them treating us so badly and expecting us to jump and agree on everything.

 wikileaks has gone too far now. I was all for them until 5 minutes ago. They have handed any nutty group a list of sites which will disrupt parts of uk

I'm all for publishing issues like corrupt politicians or football authorities but this is in a totally different league and could put thousands of innocent lives at risk across the world. It's an act of total irresponsibility and the site should be shut down. There are some crimes that should merit a loss of citizenship as punishment, apart from other penalties, and in view of the potential damage that could be caused, I think this is one of them.

The global economy is having a tough enough time as it is trying to recover from all the recent financial setbacks which have occurred. We can do without these kinds of lunatics.
