BB ((hugs)) we went through this a couple of years ago, both of my childhood pets died within 4 weeks of each other. My eldest pup (well dog) was 19 years old and the other 17 years.
Wishing you my condolences x0 -
I have a cupboard full of great big candles from yankee candles and do actually use them in the cold hall as they really do keep the temperature up and they re lovely anyway. One lasts over 100 hours. I ordered 3 more last night because they will also be going into a little little room if we have a power cut, I do have emergency cooking facilities from the `emergency supplies thread` era ie a kelly kettle, small gas stove and a fully ready charcoal barbeque and two bags of fuel. Lots of snow here now but it was just a matter of time0

I've been looking at photos of the snow on the BBC website - the amount that has fallen "up north" is incredible, I can't even fathom seeing that much snow falling and settling! Would love to have that much for once (providing I didn't have to go to work, and had lots of food etc in so no need to leave the house except to make a snowman! :rotfl: )
Maybe I'll wake up in the morning to a lovely white blanket outside...
Keep warm folks

More snow overnight here - and freezing conditions for the next 48 hours. Not grumbling as we have the essentials - shelter, warmth and food - all neighbours and old folk are ok.

Morning, we've got loads of snow here in Dorset and as we're at the top of a hill I don't think we're going anywhere for a few days. On a practical note, we have an 11kg turkey defrosting as we are doing Christmas as my sister is here. There were to be 14 of us, I suspect it'll just be the 5 of us now as no-one will risk coming out to us. May need some recipes for leftover turkey! LolPiglet

More snow here overnight in Kent. On BBC news, they said there were several trains standing at Orpington station, but don't seem to be going anywhere.

No snow here - cold and dry - but it was a sledgehammer job to break the ice in the troughs this morning - 3-4" thick - and it is already freezing over again.Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0

Someone on one of the other threads was talking about making sure their bird water never froze the other day Seasalt, and what they do, is put a tealight under the tin dish they use to keep the water above freezing, is there a chance you could do something like this for the animals? Probably a crazy suggestion but sometimes those are the best. I was thinking something like an old paint tin with a big candle in it, under the trough? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
