    SNOW DAY!

Morning everyone from a white and beautiful Dorset :D

I know it's pitiful compared to many places, but we had a good 4" last night, and it's still falling steadily - we never get this much!

Where abouts are you BB? We're Dorset/Devon border and we've got snow too!

I've been sledging :rotfl: We went to see my friend and her boys who were sledging, and friend and I had a go too :rotfl: What a way for two 41 year olds to behave :D It was fab, she and I went down two up on their sledge twice. It's the same place that we used to go and sledge when we were growing up together so it was real fun! Although as we got to the bottom I suddenly remember the huge bump that throws you off if you're not careful

I've now made two pots of sound and DH made some mulled wine to warm us all up.

Lots more snow here today and more forecast to come.

    (((hugs)) lambana

Ventured into town today to pay council tax nearly cried as i handed a wad of notes over. But its done now, till next year at least. Also reapplied for housing benefit, may as well see if i can get out.

Been attempting some kind of budget for next and its very slow going. The amount of paperwork we have is immense.
The cats have been meowing at me, looking at the radiators then back at me. Hmm may be i should put the heating up to 20 instead of 16 degrees.

Found out i owe another £136.60 to the DWP :(. What does it take to pick up the phone and say "oi missuss you owe us this much!!" Instead i paid a small fortune to find out. So my £10 standing order is still up and running. Ah well at least i know about it now.

OH went out to work today in the middle of blizzard, its crazy, most of the schools are still closed but my boys one is still open.

So been paying lots of bills today, tax credits came in. Money flew away. Hey but at least we have snow!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D

this is added to many cereals and is very addictive. It is also added to weight watchers stuff. Time to name and shame

    http://www.thegoodhuman.com/2008/01/02/supposedly-healthy-cereals-contain-high-fructose-corn-syrup/

it is a very nasty stuff and I am going to do more finding out about it

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/sep/15/high-fructose-corn-syrup-rename

    also called

    glucose-fructose syrup or isoglucose.

and Michelle Obama never gives any product containing it to her girls as it is thought to kick start obesity

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just sitting by the phone waiting for a call from dd who is trying to come home for a visit from London. She got on the last train out of London (into Essex) as it seemed all the other trains were being cancelled. I asked if she was warm enough and got the reply "not much choice with over 300 to a carriage Mum!" The train is taking it's time and going very slowly so fingers crossed she will be with me soon. I have a pot of hm cream of veg soup on the hob now. Chicken stew and dumplings for later followed by apple and mincemeat crumble so that should thaw her out.

Still recovering from nasty virus! Coughed so much I have pulled something in my side and have to bend over to cough!:( At least the headache and sickness have subsided though! At least it has kickstarted my diet!:)

I try to avoid all processed cereal now Kittie, make my own muesli, using whatever is to hand - this week used a bag of american style (cinnamon added) dried fruit and it's also lovely as a porridge! I do buy all bran though (when on offer) as we love fruit bran cake here!

(((hugs))) Lambana (know someone else going through same right now and there are no words)

Hi all..we have about 6" of snow here with lots more to come..our town is at a virtual standstill...i got through though with my M&P trusty 3 wheeler..went to the shops and got bits for my daughter, then went and totally covered her and baby sam in kisses and hugs..leah got lots too bless her...had lunch with them and then got home to a letter from the council saying"hubby had been signed off the dole so our HB and CTB were being stopped":mad:, they wouldn't talk to me even though it was addressed to me:mad:..hubby rang them and it seems that when you do a "job boost" the government think you are employed and stop all benefits:eek::doh:..he only signed on on tuesday and was talking to the advisor and she said it wouldn't be a problem at all..thing is we are due to get paid tomorrow, all our bills have been paid and left us with not much..we are a bit worried if the money doesn't go in the bank..they have assured us it will but you know what they are like..say one thing then do another:naughty:...got my fingers crossed its there...i am due at the hospital on monday to have my tubes tied:D..bit nervous but they have assured me i'll be fine:eek:...
Have done lots of baking today and got mincebeef and veggies in slow cooker for tea with home-made apple crumble for pudding..
Our school prides itself on not closing in the winter..bloody tit the headmaster is..its ok being open ,its getting too dangerous to walk there..we live at the bottom of a hill and cars can't get up it at all..when it freezes it literally turns into a skating rink..and yet i have to take her to school slip sliding all over...
It gives our weather as -6 tonight:eek:..and more snow..so if you don't hear from me then i'm buried and will someone please come dig me out:rotfl:..have a stash of choclate so i'll be ok..feel sorry for everyone when the choclate runs out...right i'm off to have a cuppa..
take care all, keep warm and please be careful if you have to go out...

I bet the whole of Scandinavia is in hyterics reading about this chaos. Whatever happened to us ? We seem to be run by a load of halfwits ! Bet they'd grit the roads if we all stopped paying council tax..
