There are always floods just before christmas
perhaps we should also be thinking of that and what emergency stuff to prepare, only in that case it would be about having the documents and photos etc handy plus a change of clothes and a coat0 -

Good thought kittie, I fear our stuff is way too scattered to be able to grab, so I may start organising small bits. But not today, am way too exhausted.Sort of hoping for alot more snow here overnight and schools to be closed at least that way the kids wont be missing any more school:)

There were trains from Orpington this morning but very late - DH waited an hour. DH is on his way home now and says there are trains but they have decided to turn off all the announcement boards at London Bridge and there are no announcements over the Tannoy so people are rushing between platforms whenever a train comes in.
Don't rely too much on the Southeastern website. It's a bit misleading because it shows some cancellations and others on time. The cancellations are because they are doing an emergency timetable and the ones shown as on time may just mean they haven't got any information about them yetIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

The other small birds have been constantly working on the fat balls in the bushes outside.:)
Im a animal and wildlife fanatic, Ive always got a load of different foods out for them, this is what I have hanging this winter.......:D
sunflowers in feeder.
peanuts in feeder
nyger seed in feeder
mixed bird seed
feeder full of fat balls
Fat cake
On the bird table ...porridge oats.. suet.. apples...
The feeders hang 5 foot approx away from back windows so we sit very still and watch, which is very interesting to see what turns up,, we did have about 15 to 18 long tail tits turn up together this afternoon....pretty little birds flitting about everywhere....straight on to the fatballs.........:D0 -

Its amazing that the electricity companies have kept supplies going so far but just saw that sheffield area have had a blackout all afternoon. I`m going to check my alternative lighting supplies now and also candles because that is all we`ll have for heat if the power goes out. Just making sure that lanterns are charged up and candles and matches handy
Kittie,
If you have gas then at least you can heat water for hot water bottles.
Get the duvets out or a sleeping bag as soon as the power goes off, it's easier to keep warm than to get warm.
Or just go to bed, nice'n'toasty.0
