There's a bay tree, some rosemary and some lavender under that lot.

There were no trains on the line from Sevenoaks or from Hayes, this morning. You may get some from Orpington tomorrow. Keep checking the South East trains website.

Don't think my garden lights will be lighting the way this evening - they are under the snow:rotfl:

Its still snowing here in North Lincolnshire - snowed in at home as roads impassable - as we had approx 12 inches last night. No postie, buses, gritter, milkman - and I don't blame them :) Lorry trying to get through this morning jack-knifed and has blocked the only road into the village

[STRIKE]Walked[/STRIKE] Yomped two miles in deep snow - it has drifted and was nearly 2ft in places - across open country this morning - took an hour each way - to get to our horses and give a hand as only one groom made it down to the stables due to road conditions and 40 horses needed feeding, watering/haying up etc. . Not long home and absolutely jiggered from it all!

:( Was due to go across to Sheffield this evening to see my heroes in concert - but decided at lunchtime that it was a no-goer . . . . but 'good' news of sorts - it was cancelled this afternoon due to bad weather and will either be rescheduled or failing that, will get full refund.

Yikes! The weathergirl has just announced that some areas will be down to -22 tonight!!! . . and very cold all day tomorrow with ...more snow! Wrap up warm and take care everyone x

Its amazing that the electricity companies have kept supplies going so far but just saw that sheffield area have had a blackout all afternoon. I`m going to check my alternative lighting supplies now and also candles because that is all we`ll have for heat if the power goes out. Just making sure that lanterns are charged up and candles and matches handy

kidcat One way of using up all your surplus soft fruit is to turn it into fruit syrup which is great for using with porridge, yoghurt, milk puddings, or in hot drinks with a slice of lemon to soothe a cold. You can also use this syrup, diluted with water and gelatine to make fruit jellies.

Simply add a small amount of water to the mixed fruit and simmer until soft. Strain through a jelly bag or large clean handkerchief. Reheat gently add 8 - 12 oz sugar to every pint of liquid according to individual taste. Stir until dissolved. Store in screwtop wine bottles. Keep in fridge for short term use. If storing, add half a crushed Campden tablet (preservative available from most chemists or Health Food shops) in a tablespoon of water and add to the bottle.

I've got things to hand too, I heard on the news that some powerlines were down in Yorkshire.

This is how it looks now, but hear there is more to come. No milkman, no postman, no binmen and no Tesco delivery. Well stocked up though, so no major problem. DIL said corner shop had run out of milk.

Lousy service in this cafe, Parson's wife. We're still waiting for our two cappucinos!:rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you're well stocked up. It's going to need some sunshine to melt that little lot, and then I suppose everybody will be suffering from floods.

You'll be waiting a long time then Primrose.:D I've been feeding all the birds, with a tray of seed and peanuts, sat out on the snow. Poor things are freezing, from the crows, to the robin.:(

The other small birds have been constantly working on the fat balls in the bushes outside.:)
