Oh Mardatha what an amount of snow you have - we have between 8 and 10 inches and that is bad enough!! Just as well you are MSE and well organised could you imagine living in this without a good storecupboard, preparation for powercuts etc!!!!! Hope you are all ok in this snow, and freezing temperatures,

Gailey, reading about your day today was a tad spooky as I had a phone call from DD2 in very much the same vein. She has 3 littlies 5, 3, & 14 months & lives mile away in Wigan. As I told her You do so much already what with school runs, feeding & caring for the little ones (never mind housework) that you have to have some me time. I know your hubby works hard, but could he not have the kids for a few hours tomorrow so you can get out by yourself for a bit, you need time off as much as he does. Please don't think I'm having a dig at him, it's the same thing I just told my son in law, at the end of the day if you mums run yourself into the ground with no close family to help then he will have to do everything, so a little bit of aversion therapy will benefit you both in the long range;)
Re the roasting tin I did this 1 year, bought a massive turkey, then had to buy a tin to fit it in & didn't find out til xmas morning that none of it would fit in the oven  cue tears fom me (of rage) tears from OH ( of laughter) 1st & last time we've had to carve the turkey before cooking it :rotfl::rotfl:Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
"Hope you can hold out without the sweets. Do you need an air drop of them?"
YESSS PLEASE !! :rotfl: I am down to my last few orange fruit pastilles ! (I leave them till last because I hate oranges)
I have plenty food, milk running lowish but got tins of dried and our milkman should get through tomorrow, he did on monday in thick snow. Its still chucking it down outside now though & husband is moaning like hell .0 -
Someone asked about red wine vinegar recipes a few days back, and I know that chutney was suggested, just read this months Asda magazine and there are a couple of recipes using red wine vinegar - one is chutney and the other a braised red cabbage. I think that all their recipes are online too.
Gailey - some times all you can do is all you can doSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times.
IF the wardrobe doors are falling off, leave them off, maybe use a piece of dowling on cup hooks with some material on them like curtains instead, chest of drawers similar. Have been there for so many years and very little of our furniture is new, almost everything we have is either bought second hand or handed down. I have learnt to try to think creatively and look at new ideas, my dad thinks I am mad when I come up with some of them but when I pull it off he is amazed. Thats not to say it always works but I make sure I learn from every mistake and try different things next time.
Advent calendars start tomorrow - my kids didnt look too impressed earlier when they realised - they were a bit oh no chocolate!!!:eek:
So I know they are still ill, so Mardatha - your luck could be in!!
Our hamsters have gone very MSE - one of them has been round her cage, found the draughts, and blocked them, together with her winter stores (a massive part of the cage she consistently fills with food) I think she is set for winter!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Feeling blinking awful still and starting to panic as it DS christmas fayre on thurs and I have done nothing, going to speak to head on phone tomorrow and see what she wants to do.0 -
Actually I could make cakes or biscuits or tablet, but its not fair to the OH who cant have them. But if I get desperate then I will, and nibble them in secret in the loo0

Worse it was the kids who pointed it out to my dad today - Look my mum has even trained the hamster to be MSE!!! ( It may well have been a plea to rescue them:rotfl:)
And I concur make as many biscuits/cakes as poss when he is out then sneak the lot when hes not looking. He cant eat them anyway so its for his own good!!!!:rotfl:YOu are saving him from himself. Wow what a kind person you are, that probably deserves a medal!!:D0 -
That's so funny Kidcat, You're such a good trainer; I reckon Martin should hire you out when he can't make public appearances lol! Hope you and the children are on the mend.

We have had more heavy snow during the night, still snowed in here. The main road is according to the BBC and police "ungritted and treacherous" even if we could reach it, which we can't
No buses in the Borders are running again for the third day, they are reviewing that later on. Some people are going to be running short of food soon.. one neighbour here said yesterday she's nearly out of elect & needs get to a shop to top up her card thingy.
Binmen wont come, schools off since friday, no milk to be had anywhere. And yet we get snow every year here, you'd think they would be able to cope a lot better !
