:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Oh fabby dosey! We once had -17 and my hand stuck to the rail at the door .. the bath water wouldnt run away as the drain froze outside and my son took two firelghters and some sticks and lit a fire under it & that cleared it :D
Only thing I'm out of is cat food. But his nibs can bloody well eat cake. Well sardines. :D
  • I was also wondering about sammy-kaye. Hope your family recovering today kidcat and that you don't go down with it too. Good luck to PLP and OH and anyone else having interviews/jobsearching. Baltic here - good couple of inches of ice in the water troughs this morning but not as much snow as you've got Mardatha. Stay warm everyone if you can and thank goodness for a reasonable store cupboard! Picked the very last of the broccoli out of the garden yesterday - ready frozen!

.... and the Sky weather lady just gave me a fit of the giggles when she said , very seriously, that "you might have to scrape your car windscreen this morning"........... our road has 4 wee humps in the snow, one of them is our car. Need to find your car first to start scraping !:rotfl:

If you had a camera I would say send her a pic!:D
Glad you have enough to eat and I'm sure the cat is very happy to be dining on sardines!

Piglet - best of luck to you and Mr Piglet. Hope you both get offers!

It was down to -8C last night here ... brrrr. I've decided to leave the gas heating on low all the time cos I'm afraid of things (including me) freezing up. The heating is rubbish anyway - grrrrr.

Hope everyone is ok ... keep warm folks!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Could I have some special OS style crossed fingers for us today please. Both DH and I have job interviews (not the same job!), one of us getting a job would be a good start although I'm still employed until the end of January so we're trying not to panic yet ...

Sending good vibes your way for both of you

  • Morning all

Kidcat - sorry to hear all of your brood are ill now :( Fingers crossed you dont succumb and they get well soon

PLP - good luck to you & OH with the interviews

ETA - Flowertotmum, glad to hear little sam is on the mend :)

It's looking lovely outside today with it's 'icing sugar' dusting of snow, had a light snowfall this morning much to the kids delight but it's stopped now. Came down this morning to find the boiler needed the water pressure topping up so hadn't clicked on at 7am like it's supposed to, the house was freezing and DD was curled up on the couch in blankets. Went in the kitchen and the thermostat box display read 6 degrees - brrrr! Its an 'out kitchen' at the back of the house, 3 outside walls so gets very chilly.

I'm going to do an inventory of the freezers and cupboards today and draw up some meal plans and a shopping list. Also see if there's anything i've forgotton to stock up on. I've got flours, pasta, sugar, teabags, UHT milk, lots of various tins etc so even if the snow gets bad we can live out of the cupboards. I'm bothered this year about the weather if DH is away with work because i won't drive in the snow and walking with DS in tow, plus shopping bags up and down icy hills isn't the best idea for me, i'm scared of falling and hurting the baby.

Poor DS's excema has really flared up with this cold weather, plus the central heating i think. His little face is all red and blotchy and his body is covered in nasty looking patches of it, constantly applying his emollient cream to keep it from drying out too much and he has a hydrocortisone to apply twice a day so hopefully can keep it from getting worse.

Hope everyone is ok, keeping warm and are prepared in case of bad weather, take care

  • We have a snow day here - got a text from school AFTER we had set off!!!!

gonna go and play out in the snow with DD in a while, first i'm gonna get tidied up and do a meal plan as the one i had planned went belly up after the chicken i was planning on us having yesterday and for the next few days actually was out of date!!!my own fault though as i bought it on friday and i always look for the biggest bird on the shelf and didn't concern myself with the date - got it home, it sat in the fridge for 2 days and i was almost puking when i opened it to cook yesterday
NOTE TO SELF: ALWAYS CHECK DATES AS WELL AS SIZE WHEN BUYING A CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once we've played out in the snow for a bit, i might get DD to help me make some rocky road, DD can have her pack up for lunch and i'll have something(no idea what but something....) then i think we will just chill out for the day and brave myself for going to pick DH up from work - hate the snow and slush and ice, can walk in the stuff but driving in it scare the hell out of me, driving in it this morning was scary so i'll be like a nervous wreck driving in it in the dark!!!
  • Cor blimey, it's blooming freezing here in Dorset, I can't imagine how bad it is further north. Big hugs and stay warm wishes to those affected by the snow and cold.

OH is at his interview now, I'm off to mine shortly, going to wear my silk long johns under my suit I think and wear my big coat even though it isn't very business like!
