Mrs Veg Plot my husband has depression and when things got really bad I phoned our GP, prior to his appointment, to have a quiet word with her as I didn't think my husband would tell her how bad he was. She didn't have to say anything, only listen so it wasn't breaking any confidentiallity.
    Thinking of you.

I actually did this with a good friend who was suffering appalling depression. I called the surgery after subtly asking which one she went to as I knew she was going there and had a word with her GP - she was very 'off' with me (the GP) but she did take it on board and asked a few subtle questions to my friend and decided I was right and she was depressed... Hmmmmm 18 years of depression on and off should give me some knowledge on the subject

I later told my friend and she thanked me :)

Definately worth a call to your GP Mrs VP

    Good luck

    Evening guys

    thanks for all baking tips.

with the twink thourght I measuerd right to original weights on twinks recipie and used tablespoon for syrup and half teaspoon bicarb.

Think i made them too thick and will use less syrup next week.

The gingerbread think I know where I messed up as instead of 2egg yolks I put 2cracked whole eggs. I did put cirrect weight in plain flour and let dough sitr in fridge for an hour before rolling on floured surface.
Want to perfect it as was planning on giving some as pressies.

seems like everyones trying to prepare for xmas.

I doi my cherry brandy hope I did it right.
recipie said 3lb of sugar to 1lb cherries but dident have that much so just layed jars with cherries, 2heaped tablesppons uger on top, more cherries nearly too top then poured in the french brandy and stirred.
I ended up making 4jars just hope they good.
i defrosted cherries and destoned them.

Still got more cherries in frezer wondering what festive things could do with them.
could they go in xmas cake?
or do a cherry cheese cake maybe? no idea how to make cheesecake but hubby loves it.

Dident make mincemeat in end as lacking almonds, delias recipie says has to leave to soak for 24housr with all ingrediants then add brandy after 24hours.
How boozy should mincmeat be? recipie says 3tablespoons full. used half 1litre bottle today on the cherry brandy.

Also debating if should attempt xmas cake as was inspired by rachel allens xmas bake earlier.

I made sausage casserole for hubbys tea tonight as nice and warming as hes been at work all day and leftovers in tub for work lunch tommorow.

Me and girls had very lazt but tasty homepride pasta bake got lots left for tommorow.

need to defrost chicken think im making chicken casserole and pasties.
need to buy ham to make mini quiches as eldest back on packed lunch this week.

managed to bath both kids both were grumpy and tired tonight.
My 15month olds clung to me all day so not done as much as I hoped.
my 4half year old seems to developed dislike for homework and reading think its because its getting harder, shes been bored all day today.

Tommorow really need to do housework but out on school run, got baby gym then pta meeting in evening so hectic.

Might get early night feel shattered again.

determined next year will be more organised and not mad panic like I feel now .

great ideas for youngest stocking think I will do that.

Flowertot mum glad your grandsons better, missed what happened to him?
does he have breathing difficulties as I as in hospital as kid with bad croup rememember my mam used to boil kettle in my room for the steam.
Why does daughter feel bad? Thing is when I take my kids to gp they make me feel most of time like neurotic mother.

Reads like you struggle with getting your house up to temp, we usually have thermo to 21 degrees , with that temp I always wear a fleece top, but I think thats me, cos I cant seem to do without a fleece most times of the year, even in the summer I have long sleeved cotton tops on........

My thermo goes up to 30. weve never gone up to that temp, even with last years cold weather the most we had it on was 24 a couple of times......

This place rarely drops below 15 at night, ive checked that when ive get up to go to toilet .........

I really feel for you lot who struggle to get a decent temp, and also for the poor folks in scotland, how the hell they put up with what the weather throws at them I will never know....they dont even get a decent summer....

No it is just that if we set it to the temp that the company recommends it would cost us an arm and a leg and it would be too warm for me to have it that high. We literally can not afford more than £3-£3.50 a day unless it is unbearably cold. We do have gas fires in the living rooms if we need them but that is usually evenings and some weekends. It costs me more in gas and electric than it costs to feed four of us.

The walls are stone and once they have heated up, (which can take several hours if cold) they stay warm, so long as the heating is on tickover 24/7. Without heating in the coldest weather we can have 10C in the dining/living room and without the penny heater in the kitchen it would freeze in there.

The thermostat on the boiler goes up way higher than 30. We have no other thermostat except the ones on the radiators. They are set depending on the room size and use but they are always on so no room gets damp.

We also have window quilts because even the double glazing does not keep out the cold. The windows are 6ft tall and some are more than that wide.
