  • Hi Lindy Loo Oh yes when a person is so rude it really upsets your day. I had an appointment yesterday afternoon with the blood pressure clinic. First time our local health centre was running one. Had been invited to come and the letter said there were two nurses there and if you could not come or wanted to but time did not suit you could ring them. Dh dropped me off(his day off) and I took a number as you do and sat outside the treatment room. I had arrived about ten minutes early, and could over heer the two voices, one was running down another person and it was hard not to hear, as the door was open. One nurse came out and looked at me, I smiled at her thinking she was about to call me, and she went back in again. Five minutes later she came out again and said to me" The treatment room isn't open on a Wednesday afternoon, this is only for something or other as I could not make out what she said. I said Oh I was asked to come to a blood pressure clinic today at 20 to 4a nd she said you are in the wrong place, did you not know that? I looked at her and said I will go and get signed in, and walked away. Cheeky madam. only know of the g.p's rooms and the treatment room. Walked round after to waiting area and then a nurse called me into a wee rooom. Easy mistake to make and there was a nicer way to tell me I thought. Her face would have turned milk sour as well.

  • i'm feeling very OS today!! always do when i do lots of baking!!

so far i've made a batch of fairy cakes(DD will ice them after school) got a batch of cheese scones in the oven and i'm currently debating whether or not to make some twinks, have got sausage and apple pasties to make later as well!!
really looking forward to the scones coming out the oven so i can have one for lunch(really hope they are ok as never made cheese scones before)

the sun is shining brightly so i have all the curtains/blinds open and it is fab(usually keep all curtains shut cos of horrible weather) and all my housework is done :D:D:D

realy looking forward to picking DD up from school as she doesn't know i've baked so she will be really excited about icing the cakes, hoping that i've got enough spuds for tea as then today will be a NSD!!!

oh, my sun has gone, it's horrible and grey all of a sudden and it's raining/sleet

BTW - I love horror films etc and I pricked up my ears when Mardatha said she was reading a scary book. I think I find them less scary than reality! :D:eek:
I went to Ikea yesterday and they were out of stock of lots of things - certain types of jars and muffin trays. I did wonder if they had been snapped up by people making their own Christmas pressies this year.

Just a quick one about scary stuff... isn't it funny how people in films about vampires and zombies have never read books or seen films with vampires and zombies:D

I bet it was the Ikea jars with stars on: they didn't have a lot in our local branch. Not that I need any more storage jars after a certain brand of coffee was cheap:D turned out they were just the right size for the bigger packets of spices and half packets of couscous.

  • Oh cheese scones, what a good idea, I haven't had lunch yet, and was thinking bread would take too long. Thanks :D

Having a dilemma today, DS12 has two navy long sleeved thermal tops he wears under his school uniform, but school have said that he can no longer wear them under his short sleeved PE top as they show that they are not black to match the uniform. Have been searching online and cant buy black thermal tops anywhere, does anybody have any suggestions?

Lidl did have them in - can't remember how much for kids, but they were £5.99 for 2 adults, so less than that I'd think.

  • Good grief kidcat, how petty! I have black thermals but they're ladies and I imagine your DS wouldn't want them with their lacy edging :rotfl: I think I've seen black thermals at millets but couldn't say how much they were charging for them.

Our office is FREEZING, they turned the heating off at about 10:30am even though it's not getting above 0 today and has been snowing on and off this morning. Brrr! I'm glad I decided to put a thick jumper on this morning. Going shopping after work to see if I can find any thick, long cardigans to keep me warm at work this winter but I don't really want to spend too much. Also might see if I can find any reasonably priced thermals with v-necks as mine all have really high necklines and show under all my clothes, I don't mind people knowing I wear thermals but they don't look very smart!

Yep. Tell the school not to be so petty - I have never heard such BS!!!

I dread my girls coming home from school when they are older with 'issues' like this as I am not good at keeping my gob shut when it comes to unreasonableness of any description :o
