I have been using stardrops mixed with vinegar and water but not just vinegar, will have a go with just vinegar, then move onto baby oil. Next time I'm in halfords will also pick the autosol up too, that way it will gleam!!
Thanks for all the tips. :)
  • morning all,

yesterday was a NSD and today will hopefully be the same!!!
the biscuits we made yesterday have all gone so we will have to make some more later!!

had to have a chat with DD's teacher this morning as every week DD's class have had a supply teacher at least once a week and DD told me she was worried about the other teachers not listening to her if she said she felt ill and what if she had a seizure and the teacher didn't know what to do - so i told her i'd have a chat with her teacher
her teacher said that ALL teachers that come into contact with DD know about her epilepsy and the two TA's in the class know what to do, should she have a seizure, she said that she will have a chat with DD to reassure her that the other teachers know to listen to her if she says she feels unwell - i came out of school feeling a lot better(i think we got lucky with DD's teacher as one of her friends has epilepsy so she knows how to deal with it and luckily it doesn't faze her like it does the other teachers)
we have been lucky as she hasn't had a seizure for around 6 weeks now, but i can't help wondering if she might be due one(i know you can't say when one will happen) with her saying about being worried about the other teachers not knowing what to do

right i am off to go and get warm and do a bit of housework - really need to do the ironing as it's almost taking over the spare room, but i have a phobia about ironing during the day as whenever i've done the ironing during the whilst DD's at school, school have called me to collect her as she's had a seizure so now i refuse to iron during the day incase i jinx us!!
think i'll do the dishes, figure out what i'm having for lunch and then go out to my course(where it's lovely and warm and FREE)

Panic - mum has just called and announced they are on their way (havent hoovered yet or attacked the dining room!) and will be here for lunch!! Hadnt planned on having any was too busy cleaning, and am struggling to see what I can give them at short notice, Grrrrr!!:)
  • Very quickly, many congrats to all you expectant mums! That is lovely news, please stay on this thread, don't all disappear to trendy, yummy mummy sites!

A few words about schools expecting money left right and centre. As far as I am aware (waiting now for someone to put me straight!) education in this country is free at the point of service, as is the NHS. No one can MAKE you spend out all this money, the business of a school is to educate a child from starting to finishing, NOT to demand money with menaces. Can I just put it that maybe some are too scared of what others might think of them if they say no? If you cannot afford the extras, do not accept that you have to have them. You cannot on one hand say that you find it difficult to pay bills etc and then on the other say you have to find cash for school trips etc. I do not see how a skiing trip can possibly be explained away as *educational*. Spend time teaching children (and some parents for that matter) the meaning of thrift, frugality and money management. Now THAT would be educational!!

Sorry, I've gone off on a complete rant here, it is just one of my bugbears.

I will now finish reading the pages I need to catch up on, you never know, maybe someone else has pointed out the bl**ding obvious!
  • Frugal, hopefully your fingers are better, I find witch hazel very comforting for burns and scalds. Soak some cotton wool with witch hazel and wrap around your fingers and top up with more witch hazel as necessary.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    me too jackie!!!!!

Crank, glad you got it sorted out. But thats ridiculous, the poor girl, can only imagine ho much pain she was in!

Well i have ordered another two pressies off amazon, luckily i recieved £20 worth of vouchers from surveys:D. So i'm off the mark, got naff all money but i know the boys at least three pressies betweem them to play with.

Not impressed with the hospital today, well, i'm confused more than anything else. I had a check up on a knee today, so far so good, all bones healed :D. But then the doctor said you can go now i'm discharging you. So i asked him about the bone density tests i had in august. His response we don't have the results etc. Well i was qute annoyed by this so i got quite uppity and said well i think its ridiculous and can you check the file again. So within 30 seconds , literally he said oh here they are, yes they all normal. I'm discharging you to the physio.
So yes i'm happy and over joyed that i don't have osteoporsis:D, i'm concerned that he just said that so i would be discharged off the list!

Got a pan full of yummy apple pie filling, so prob going to have some tonight with custard hmmmm yummmy!

Been freezing snowy showers today, fingers crossed we get thick snow, be brill if it does so we can all have a snowball fight.
  • Frugal - I hope your fingers are feeling less sore this afternoon!

I found out today that one of the men who was round fitting our new double glazing yesterday is in the hospital  he showed me where he'd cut himself on a piece of glass and I got him to wash it and gave him a plaster but whilst it was a tiny little nick of a cut, hardly anything at all it was apparently a deep puncture and he's severed a tendon. He went to A&E to get it looked at as he couldn't move his hand properly after he did it (and knowing nothing about these things I'd thought it was just pain and the cold making his hand feel stiff...oh dear!) and they kept him in overnight to operate today. Poor bloke!! Fortunately he's not planning on getting me into trouble for just telling him to put a plaster on it :rotfl: I feel bad though for not saying he should go see a doctor then.

Hopefully when I get home tonight our house should be so much warmer with the added insulation of a double glazed utility area :D

We also had a man out from British Gas to service the boiler who has said it's incredibly inefficient and so old they can't get parts for them anymore...well I knew that!! He also bled all the radiators and said they were full of air which worries me as it's only been about a month if that since someone came and drained the system completely and ran some sort of cleaner stuff through it. Fortunately (though I'd love to own a house when I'm annoyed with my landlord!) we rent so all of this hasn't cost us anything. I rather hope that when the landlord sees the report from the boiler service (he's paying for that British Gas homecare thing for us so if we do have any problems we can get them straight out instead of waiting for him to arrange it) he'll decide to get us a new, energy efficient combi boiler so we can have heating and hot water on our gas as at the moment our heating is through that and our hot water is an old electric immersion heater thing. I don't know though, he has just reglazed the extension which can't have been cheap so I mustn't complain too much...we'll see anyway.
