    Frugal - thanks :)

As for babies being out, I ran a playgroup as part of my voluntary role and there was no-one to cover so I managed to not miss a week with either of my sons, so one was about two days old when I was out! And I remember picking up one of the kids from school on the day DD4 was born - came out of hospital straight to school to grab and home, :) (For any expectant mums out there its not a good idea and I certainly dont advise it, my friend almost died because she did too much too soon, so take care after the birth too!! ) drove myself home after DD too when OH had car accident on way from hospital and was unable to drive. :)

How warm should rooms be kept? Heating has been on and off on timer today and yet the living room never rose above 16 whilst my bedroom didnt pass 14c?

heating is a modern phernomenon.... I used to check the back of the babies necks.. if that was warm, they were warm. Just wrap them up if its cold, and less if its warm.... our grandparents grew up with no central heating so our insulated houses will always be warm enough if baby is wrapped up in my opinion :)

When I had DS, we had heating downstairs (well if you could call ti that, it was crap storage heaters) and not upstairs... his bedroom was always freezing... ice on inside of windows etc... he was wrapped in in fleece all-in-one and a hat :D On very cold nights i'd snug him up with me :D Still do that with DDs altho we have a great insulated house and proper heating... its a good excuse for a good snug up with them :D

Blimey that reminds me of when we moved to last house, the heating was broken and it was freezing March, we had DS huddled in his pram in a babygrow, socks, fleece all in one, cardigan, snowsuit and hat and gloves, several blankets, had the gas oven on and sat him in the vicinity, what a picture, :)

Amusing OT anecdote... One (crazy) woman came up to me and DDs when they were tiny... asked if they were twins... was visibly shocked when I said they were and then went on to say "OMG!!! But one is asleep and one is awake... how is that possible?!!!! Durrr they are twins not clones!

My cousin, out walking with her twin boys was stopped by an elderly lady... "what are their names?" she asked.... "benjamin and luke" she replied... "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh one of each, how lovely". weird!!!

Lastly, an elderly gentleman on the tills at MrT said to me "oh, a boy AND a girl, how lovely!"... I said they were 2 girls.... he said "but that one has brown hair!" errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Oh, is that how you tell the difference? I always though it was to do with what was down below, not the colour of hair :rotfl:

Fantastic, that's made me chuckle. I've had several people say the same daft thing to me when I say our DD is going to be a big sister they say "oh so you know you're having a girl then?" No C will be a big sister whatever flavour the baby turns out "Oh yes suppose so" has been the reply!:rotfl:

Frugal, run them under cold water, or put them in a bowl of cold water that is being topped up by the cold tap. Leave them for at least 10 minutes, the longer the better. Gentle hugs to you, sounds awful.

Edit: here's the NHS advice for minor burns http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1047.aspx?CategoryID=72&SubCategoryID=721

Take care and get medical help if it's bad.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
