DM your advice is really useful. Have spoken to OH again this morning and compared getting help for this to the way he got help for his back and his collitis. Response was but its not physical so I explained about chemical imbalances ect. He has promised to phone GP tomorrow and I have made it clear I will be chasing him up over this.
Sat down this morning and went through all of his post and have identified one or two small problems that we have discussed and he will make the appropriate calls tomorrow to sort them out. Have now given him a small pile of his paperwork to file today and he is then going to draft proof the front/back doors and the internal garage door. Not big jobs but I am hoping he will have a sense of achievement when he has finished them.
OH did set the heating for me last night to come on in the moring and again in the evening (after I came home mid morning the other day to find the central heating on in an empty house). Unfortunatly we got up to no hot water so wil need to look at that again today.
It's a beautiful cold but sunny morning here and I'm feeling much better about things. Have cleaned through downstairs apart fom the kitchen which I will tackle next. DD1 must also be feeling inspired as she is tidying and cleaning her room with no prompting. Hope it rubs off on DD2 but not much chance of that.
Have sat and worked out grocery spends over the last 9 weeks . I was aware that prices were rising but it is getting silly. Have been mealplanning but need to step it up a gear and use more store cupboard/freezer ingredients. Will do that this afternoon.
Sammy kaye your baby is beautiful. Both of mine had rolls on their arms and legs as babies, it soon goes as they start getting about. Good luck with the visit.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I have also suffered depression at several times in my life. I had a wonderful g.p who I spoke to and he sat and listened and put me on tablets for a while and asked me to take them and come back to see him in two weeks which I did. I was starting to feel a little better and after a while I was able to come off them. That was 30 years ago. Then years later I had a breakdown after a very traumatic event in my family, and it was an awful time. Again I had help from my g.p and was also in touch with two wonderful community physciatric nurses who came to my home and supported me and it was a long road back, but got there in the end. It can be very frightening feeling ill when it is a mental health illness and I thank God I am well and over it all. It left me with feeling so blessed to be okay now, and I do feel for anyone who suffers it. My Dad was very ill when he was young and ended up in a hospital after a breakdown and it was awful. It scared me that I would ever end up in a place like that(many many years ago, things are different now I know) When I was depressed I would clean and clean to try to get over it, so scared was I of ending up in the hospital. I don't have the same energy and due to ill health I can't go mad cleaning like before, so if it comes on I put my coat on and go for a wee walk and find it helps lift my mood. I understand all mental health illnesses are different and vary in different people.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Have had a look through thr boys xmas gifts and we need an awful lot of battereis. We use a lot of AA battereis at the moment and we buy them from poundland - what I was wondering was do any of you use a battery charger and reuseable batteries? If so does it work out cheaper as the out lay seems quite high.
Have woken up with a sore throat that feels like im swallowing razors and my wisdom tooth (that grows into cheek) is swollen and sore. No point going dentist as its stuck and they cant remove it as it will cause nerve damage, hasnt been this bad for a long time but when im run down it plays up.
Sammy I didnt know you had to allow health visitors into your home, its not like you dont visit the clinic or GP with her. Shes cute. If I could work out how to put up a photo I would show of my two little men!
So cold here, gas eating up the pennies very quicklyMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
Lindy Loo we only use rechargeable batteries. Ikea and Aldi do very resonable ones and chargers too, Aldi also do chargers around this time of year, worth a look if you are near one, I am sure ours cost about £10 from there, and there's no way I've spent anywhere near as much on batteries since I started using rechargeable ones, as I would have if I had been using throwawy ones. I won't call them disposable because they aren't/It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Its a common strategy for private firms to know very well in the run-up to Christmas that they need to make/intend to make redundancies and to keep that from their workers till January and then hit them with it..
I think this is such a horrible thing to do, especially if some of the redundandces haven't been forecast earlier. They may say that they don't want to spoil Christmas for people but it can lull them into a false sense of security and some will spend more money over Christmas than they should. I know nobody wants bad news lurking over them at Christmas time but I'd have more respect for a company who let employees know which way the wind is blowing. Then at least the sensible ones can plan their finances accordingly. The worst case I know was a company signing a mortgage reference for an employee taking out a stonking great loan for a house he was buying knowing full well that a month further down the line he was going to be "let go". I don't think that's an honourable way to behave.0 -
Congratulations Jediteacher!
Sammy - I would put in a formal complaint about your HV. I'd even say that you are happy for a different HV to come round so that she can see that everything is fine but that you feel as if this particular one is victimising/harrassing you. That way you show that you are happy to work with the health system in general, just not THIS particular woman.

I've just had a lovely visit from my oldest friend and her hubby. They went down a storm with DS & he managed to charm them even though they aren't really into children. Am now eating left-over Chinese take-away for lunch and have enough to have thirds tomorrow for dinner!
I have to have a major sort out soon to make room as they also brought up several boxes of books for me that were in storage with family. I can't bear to get rid of books, so something else will have to go to make the space. That or I'll have to buy more archive boxes to store the ones I'm less likely to read!0 -
thanks for the idea of singalong CD to get myself going. I'm off to put one on right now.....lalalala

DD and I bought the Da1ly Mail yesterday to get the christmas carol CD, it was lovely yesterday with the blinds down, candles on, singing along - I didn't feel at all bad that it's only November and I'm feeling Christmassy this year already :j0
