Kittie thank you for that info, I don't have colitis but very similar symptoms so I shall look into it

Mrs VP a random thought, would your DP have put it there? Have a little look at the date. My DP once put a court letter through our door he had been hiding but forgot it was Sunday so I clocked the date as nearly 2 weeks and asked if he had done it.

Rosanna you sound like one of our old HVs, DS2 didn't have one from being 2 but one, oh she was great, kids used to call her 'Aunty Mable' as she looked like the one from the Pippin cartoons. She'd often pop in if she was about but knew I didn't mind as I was very poorly at the time and almost housebound. She was so important to us and I cried when she left :( partly pleased they forgot to allocate DS2 one as we couldn't have replaced her. We have a great special needs hv now, a little flaky but great.

Well tonight we had a lovely chicken dinner, not been to a supermarket since Monday so I'm thrilled I've managed it as temptation or someone wanting things I don't have usually hampers it. Being more organised has helped. I've got training days Monday/Tuesday and there is usually a ridiculous amount of food left so I will be taking containers/bags to bring some home. I've mealplanned the week and need a few bits which I will stick to

Got loads to do in the morning include collect some grit salt as we have snow forces Wednesday for about a week. I must get the shovels out of the shed, stupidly had to borrow one to dig and get the door open last year! DP will find my straps tomorrow for dragging people who've fell off the road out. I got a scraper yesterday. Need some more DW salt before everyone buys it to clear paths with. I'm going to start baking on an evening again when the oven is on, home bakes always warm me more :)

Right, need to try to get some sleep x
One day I might be more organised...........

Think it's time for me to become a regular poster as opposed to a regular lurker. I have read this threAd and it's previous ones with great interest they have helped me out lots. I hope you don't mind me joining. I am struggling to make ends meet every month we just make it and constantnly feel as though we are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Myself I work part time my husband works full time plus overtime we have three kids primary school age and like many of you it's tough to get everything either done or paid. Christmas is a worry as we don't have much organised to date, however we should be ok after my husband gets his overtime pay at the end of month and we get our Xmas bonus which is supposedly less than last but will stil be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all fir your inspirational posts I really enjoy reading them and hope you don't mind me joining in the thread. Thanks Kalojac

Hi Kalojac - welcome to this little community. It's a good place to get support, pick up tips, pass on tips.
Very rainy morning here. Thinking about heading out with the dogs, then will get the soup pot on and fill the place with nourishing smells:). Something spicy I think as I want it to last a few days and we are forecast poss snow.

    SAMMY

Health Visitors is something thats outside my "experience range" - but see you've had plenty of other advice here about that. Anyway - looking at that photo - Holly looks plenty happy and healthy enough to me.

Sorry that there has been further "stuff crawling out of the woodwork". Pleased you've found the strength to "shine daylight onto those dark corners" and find out just what might be lurking there - hope those credit reports dont show up any further bad news. Its wise to have them though. Never forget "You cant see the way ahead if you've got your head buried in the sand" and you clearly are well aware of that and your head is well up and "looking at the landscape".

I need to hit the shops on Tues then if the snow is coming , It was trying hard to snow here yesterday, we had non stop sleety horrible heavy rain all day, very cold & raw. Remember we were saying how we all felt that something was coming & that's why a lot of us were stocking up food and buying things we needed etc -- well that's the kind of feeling I've got today. Just an apprehension kind of niggle and I dont like it !

You're probably thinking combination of New Year coming up and "whats going to happen about Ireland?" Mardatha...

Oh well...my thought for the day is having just read how Chinese speculators have driven up the price of garlic a LOT over last year or so and thought "Just as well I've been doing a bit of guerilla gardening - planting loads of 2 types of wild garlic round the area recently then. Hopefully it will come on stream for next year...:rotfl::rotfl:". Still got a bit more to do yet - I've been planting every suitable location within walking distance...

Well...you gotta find summat to laugh at "Flippin' ceridwen - is she anticipating an increase in vampires locally then or summat?:rotfl::rotfl:". Nope - I just like my garlic and if nowt else will grow somewhere - then that'll do for a "crop"....

Wow! Haven't been on for a few days and had masses of pages to catch up on

Firstly Woop!! Woop!!! jediteacher! :j that's brilliant news, hun x

    Great news V8monkeyboy!

    ((hugs)) for FRugal

((hugs)) also for Mrs VP. I hope that you have now truly bottomed out the extent of his financial problems.
Depression is also hard for the sufferer's family to deal with - they often feel the need to be strong and don't necessarily have someone they can vent off to. Meds can be good, but some won't take them (eg my OH!) Diet (lots of stuff on t'net), exercise, counselling and things like 'uplifting/ happy' music can all help - but things take a lo-ong time, and there will be backward steps as well as forward progress. OH really likes his new counsellor (he's had counselling before, but either he wasn't ready for it or he didn't bond with the counsellor, so no progress was made) so hopefully he's going to slowly get somewhere - I'm expecting a very long, very hard haul...

(That's Me) re the job x

(Rosanna) - Christmas is a hard time when bereavements occur around it x

Welcome to Bayleigh's Nanna, Kalojac and anyone else I've missed and ((hugs)) for those needing them for whatever reasons x

NualaBuala - fajitas: - we never use a spice mix. We cook our chicken off in olive oil and chopped garlic, add chopped peppers and onions and a finely chopped fresh chilli. Then a big glug of cheap white wine (eg basics -I always buy the cheapest bottle in the supermarket and buy it purely for fajitas) YUmmy and we prefer to teh 'spice mix' (and at times the chilli/ garlic/ peppers/ onions are all home grown)

    Hello Kalojac and welcome

also  to any lurkers :D

Dad is getting a little better :j:j Hopefully get some news today about a bed at a stroke rehab place for him. Its such a relief that he seems to have turned a corner.

I have had to ramp up my winter preps swiftly because I have 2 solid weeks of work starting thurs (I am SEmployed so have to take it when it comes) which is so annoying as, the whole point of me being prepared this winter was so I could enjoy the snow with the kids... And as it turns out, I will be at work. Assuming I can get there. Never mind, I am sure it won't be the snow we see this winter!

I am off to MrT this morning to get some bits for the freezer, and might go to town this afternoon to get a snood :D and also top up my gas card so I am sure there will be enough to last a few weeks.

I also need to blitz the house as my friend will be looking after the children here  and as some of you know, upkeep of my house has taken very much a back seat in recent weeks.

OMG Just took a phonecall - my auntie died last night aged 80. I didn't know her well as Mums family come from another country. Still very sad though.

Oh dear - hope the day gets better.
