Thanks everyone for your hugs, handholding and advice :) Reading all your posts has really cheered me up. Mostly I am being strong as I know how my Dad would want me to deal with this. Can't help the odd wobbly moment tho.

Unfortunately, my DSM doesn't really want me or my Uncle kicking up a fuss altho both of us have offered. She knows that I am not shy when it comes to making myself heard, and will use the threat of holding them accountable/legal action/publicity, whatever means I deem necessary... But she doesn't want me to :/ At some point, it may come to me ignoring her wishes and acting in what I feel is the best way, but I hope it doesn't come to that... I just don't want her crumbling over the strain because she is too proud/doesn't want to upset Dad etc...

Anyway, will see what happens today - I just seriously hope they don't discharge him as I don't think he is ready, and I really don't think DSM is ready either.

Not been very OS today.... Got the DDs a McD  as the kitchen is a mess and there is no room to even make a sandwich in there atm!!! House is a tip too... I've never been a neat freak, but this is too much chaos for me so a dear friend has offered to come on Sunday and help me sort it out... I am really embarrased tho as it is bad... so I have made a bit of a start on it. I tried to cancel her but she was having none of it. The state of my mind is definately reflected in the state of my house :o:o:o

It's hard when they don't want a fuss, been there, just keep working on it, it's hard for them to accept their world has just lurched into a more difficult phase.

I would try and get whatever help you can and don't forget about claiming benefits they may be entitled to.

I did this for my dad, it was all done online and I just took the papers for them to sign, I deliberately overstayed my welcome visiting them, then pulled out the papers. They would have signed anything at that point to get rid of me, LOL

You are so lucky having a friend to help you, I just lived in a bombsite for months!
    Take care of yourself.

  • Good luck with your dad Frugal. I really hope that everything goes right for his care, beurocracy is crazy sometimes!

    ---

I currently feel sooooo groggy. DS didn't go to bed until nearly 4am and then woke up at 8am. Finally got him back down at around 10am only for things to get almost farcical. If it had been in a movie I'd have dismissed it as too un-believable. First the bin men came around and started crashing the bins around, then a bloke started strimming the hedges outside, then the woman upstairs started clomping round and hoovering, then the postman put stuff through the door and then they finally decided that today was the day to fill in the pot-holes in the car park outside (with attendant shouting between workmen).... All within about an hour.

I managed to grab sleep in chunks here and there and DS has just got up again just before 4pm. We seriously need to sort out his sleeping patterns! Trouble is, we won't leave him to cry it out, so we're going to have to do it by waking him up a bit earlier in the morning and limiting his naps during the day so we can hopefully gradually shift him back to a normal-ish time table. Need to wait for DH to have some holiday before that though as it's definitely a two person job!

When it comes to anxting about what people will think if you step away slightly from gender stereotypes, one of my friends linked this blog post on Facebook (we don't know the woman concerned but wish we did!), we all think this mother rocks! http://nerdyapplebottom.com/2010/11/02/my-son-is-gay/

If I was his mum, I'd be less worried about the gender dilemma and more worried about him resembling Ronald McDonald

I'm doing that tonight... am fighting tears. Dad is not good still, long waiting list for stroke rehab but docs want to discharge him tomorrow.... once they discharge him he is no longer eligible for the waiting list for rehab

My dear stepmum is doing all she can but i am worried about her managing... I can only do so much as I have little ones, and she hates to ask for help, but I will do what i can.

Its gonna be tough for us all for a while I think :(

I am so grateful that I have some very good friends that are supporting me, altho there is not much anyone can do really.

Love and hugs to those needing them - I know its not just me in this situation xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Frugal, i do understand how you feel so please know that we are all here for you...wish i could have a cuppa and a chat with you in the real-world, but words on a screen will have to suffice unfortunately, in which case....(((big hugs)))

    I've been Money Tipped!
Big (((Hugs))) Frugal and to Katholicos! Your parents are worth fighting for - I miss mine so much. Sounds like you have a wonderful friend Frugal and you might find that you actually enjoy spending time with her as well as getting sorted out.

Big thank you to all who replied regarding the hand knitting for my future grandchild! :A I think a simple blanket is a great idea, I treasured a patchwork cot quilt cover that my Mum made for our firstborn. The fabric she used has now been put into a single bed sized memory quilt that my sister made for us. I have also started on some simple booties (more like socks really) and a matching hat and cardigan. I would love to go into babygap or mothercare and stock up but just cannot afford it just yet.:( We can get babywool at a very good price on the market but at the moment I am going to work from my stash, so almost free!

Just attended part 7 of an 8 week course on managing cfs symptoms, really good, free (well just a donation into funds for the centre running it) and found myself volunteering to be a facilitator at the next course!!! :) I lost all my confidence when I had to leave work with this illness but feel inspired to give this a go and maybe help someone else.

Avoiding all the adverts that are on tv at the moment so not tempted to overspend this Christmas. Going to stay in and make stuff instead! Time my fabric, wool and card making stashes were used!

Kitcaboodle - hope you manage to catch up on some sleep soon, nothing worse than missing your sleep! (((hugs)))

Hope you are all keeping warm, very, very foggy here in the southeast tonight!

    Catz x

I am really enjoying the Hairy Biker's Cook off on BBC2.:j

The dark and damp is really getting me down and at least, they make me laugh and cheer me up.

My DH has bought a True Call unwanted phone call zapper, because we are getting so many nuisance calls and are both thoroughly tired of them, as we get at least 6 a day.

The advertising blurb says it "zaps" calls.:rotfl:

We are calling it "Frank". :D

Those of you who were around in the early 70's will get it.:o

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Frank.... ? Was born early 70s tho :D

Well, quick update on Dad... They have decided to keep him in hospital over the weekend and are trying to get him a bed at one of the stroke rehab centres near to us so I am pleased about that. Haven't spoken to DSM yet but she sent me a text earlier to tell me.

Thanks again for everybody's support - it really means a lot :A
