So maybe there is something to be said for eloping at 16 then. You get to grow up with each other in a way..
And by the time you've got him half trained, you've no energy left to throw him out and get another one!

The trick is to find one who is trainable! I never did.......

Lots of good posts on here today.

    greent(((hugs)))

Welcome to any newscomers, lurkers, and you lovely posters on here. Been feeling out of sorts what with me having the flu and lack of the internet.

well i've got my ickle bro's laptop, but sadly have to give it back if i don't buy it off him. He wants £80 for it, he charging other £100+ and said i can pay him back in bits so i'm seriously tempted.
Trying to justify it to myself, i.e joint birthday/xmas present for me sorted.

Well been a hectic week of appointments.
Managed to buy an undercounter freezer of ebay for £34 :D, just need to pick it up tomorrow night. I asked on freegle for a fridged but nothings showing up yet. Just going to keep an eye out for a very cheap one.

Coddy attended an assessment for secondary school yesterday. Its the school i really want him to go to, so fingers crossed all will go well.
He has another physical assessment on the 13th November, at the same school. Unfortunately its on at the same time as a friends 30th birthday weekend. So i'm going to have to say look i'll come on saturday night instead of Friday. Its going to cause friction but quite frankly i'm sick of this person and my childs future is more important than keeping people onside.Selfish i know but i don't care.

Had a meeting about snips today, ended up having the senco / deputy heads life. Hopefully my and the paeditricians input will kickstart the procedeing sof getting children with extra educationals needs the headstart and provisions they are entitled too. The deptuty hesd is renowned for ignoring parents wishes, bullying and generally not caring about pupils inany way shape or form. So i actually feel like i've been progress today.

Hope your all well and annie 44:j:j:j,, congrats my love!!

    Morning all....

Just posting quick to reply to Kezlou..... I am a school governor with special responsibility for SEN children..... If you are not getting anywhere with the head, and as you say you have the backing of medical specialists, go to the Local Authority and ask to apply for a statement. Now I don't know the details of your childs needs, but if at the end of the day you do not get a statement for the child, then at the very least you can push the LA to listen to you and make the head listen to them.....

    Hi All

Thought I would pop in and say hello quickly.

WE are the house of the lurgy at the minute. Owen had some sort fo nasty bug which Im prtty sure wasnt helped by the fact he had glandular fever last year and has had shingles because he was practically bed ridden with this bug.

I had a nasty stomach upset and the kids were full of cold, which I seem to have now gotten aswell :(:(:(

Food wise - we have mostly been living on soup bar the chocolate biscuits my mum brought em up the other day as a present.

Not been or done anything much but trying to get much better as Ben seems to have about 5 birthday partys in the next two weeks!

Having a saga (always do at Xmas) with my step sons mother. You'd think after 8 years with me she'd get the hint that our relationship is pretty strong. Ok its had its blips recently but we are much better now.

Anyway had better go. Bens off school today - inset day - and so i think a PJ day is in order considering for us all as its torrential rain and gales here at present. Ben is cuddled on one sofa in his Ben 10 fleece, Holly is shouting every time someone on TV talks so how the hell I'll hear anything Ive no idea. My duvet on the sofa is calling me.

love, hugs, condolences, congratulations, good luck and all the rest. Be back when Im feeling more human.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    * sulks off to her duvet on sofa with a cuppa tea.....*
    Time to find me again

Hmmm...now sitting here thinking I duly had my turn as a bridesmaid when I was a little girl (I think its nice for every little girl to HAVE a turn in this role at least once). I remember the dress/flowers I carried and present I was given afterwards by the bride and groom (ie a gold cross on a chain) and it was a nice experience for me as a little girl. Mind you - I wish I'd had a different dress - the one chosen for us bridesmaids was FAR from my taste:(.

I remember the two bridesmaid dresses were made by someone - cant recall who it was....

I think my mother was given the money to cover the cost of getting my dress made??? I think it is the norm that bridesmaids get their dresses paid for by the bride and groom actually (leastways if they are children still)...so my personal feeling is that I would have felt very awkward indeed if I had a little daughter that had been asked to be a bridesmaid and the accompanying statement that the dress would be paid for hadnt happened. So - I am guessing that the family concerned come from a background where they expect that bridesmaid dresses will be paid for by the bride and groom and simply didnt know how to react to a different set of ideas about who did the paying (hence they probably lied out of sheer embarrassment/not knowing what to do). I would have felt very embarrassed myself if I had automatically agreed to a daughter of mine doing this - in order to give her this typical "little girl" experience and then realised that I was expected to cover the cost of the dress. My own take is that I would have been expecting the inviter to say how the cost would be covered - and then giving my little girl a nice present for doing so.

Not saying either way is right or wrong. Just saying that there may have been two different sets of expectations in this case - hence both parties feeling upset...

I agree, but I didn't explain myself clearly. We had 6 younger girls, 2 of my sisters, 2 nieces & 2 god-daughters & we said right from the outset that we couldn't afford for all of them to be bridesmaids & pay for it all ourselves, so if they all wanted to be we would split the cost. We specifically chose the cheapest dresses we could find, £30 each from BHS & we paid for the shoes, tights, flowers & shrugs. I was simply illustrating that some people like to keep up appearences when they really don't have the funds.

    Edited to add:

Just re-read that & realised I sound a little defensive (:o sorry), but it truly was made clear from the beginning that the cost would be split & it just irritated me that they plead poverty, but if we'd said sorry then they can't be bridesmaids we can't afford to pay for all of them there would have been a row. We were very open that we had very little money for our wedding from the start & it just annoyed me that people we thought were close friends could have done this & put us in that situation, if it really had been the case that they couldn't afford it we would have happliy paid, but it wasn't.

Got up this morning to find my 'outside' freezer has died:( Checked the fuse just in case it was something simple but of course it wasn't! Anyway I went on line and got a replacement with free delivery and a reasonable price and it is coming tomorrow:T Why do these things always happen when the freezer is full? Luckily I have credit with the gas/elec suppliers so will be ringing them today to get it repaid to me so can cover the cost of the replacement. Love to everyone on this thread!

  • hi everyone:) I am hanging washing outside for the first time in about a week. Rain rain very heavy rain and rain all through the night a day ago. I will use the clothes horse again and keep an eye on weather here. Would be nice to have it dried outside again. New cooker delivered this morning and we are giving our ds ours as he needs one badly in his own wee flat. As soon as I finish this I am going to count out all the 1 2 and 5 ps in tin to sort out for the bank in morning. Have lots of coin bags from last trip to bank. We can give in up to 5 bags at a time. Last time we counted it all out and had over £30 which was good. We took 10 bags with us and separated outside our two local banks, dh went into one with 5 and I went into the other with the other 5 bags. we are with two banks you see, well one bank one building society. Simples:)
