That's my favourite Quentin Crisp quote too. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

I don't post on here everyday likes lots of you but I do enjoy reading all the posts. I find it interesting to see others views about things. If we were all the same the world would be a very boring place.
On the money saving side I made a lovely spag bol yesterday from ingredients I already had in & after my friend & I had had two good portions I was able to freeze down another three portions. When I defrost it I intend to turn it into a lasagne & should be able to turn it into a four or five portion meal.
I usually take my lunch to work to save money. Have been having cuppa soups bought very cheaply from Approved Foods for last few weeks but they are nearly finished so instead of buying more I remembered I have lots of cans of soup in the cupboard & I have found my small flask & insulated cup out & I'm going to start heating up a can of soup in the morning & taking that in my flask instead. Should save a bit of money which is always good.0 -
Evening all,
Feeling a little down today as it seems everyone I know is getting interviews and jobs, and I'm currently struggling to even get an interview at the moment. It doesn't help that we're all going for the same jobs as there are so few out there.
I just really feel useless at the moment; I messed up my last interview, and haven't heard back from any of the others I've applied for. It's making me wonder whether I've wasted the last three years TBH.
I'm still ill too, so that's not helping my mood. The OH is away at present, and the dog has ripped one of her pads open and may need to go to the vets; another expense I could do without.
Apart from that, I was bought lunch today by a friend, so that was nice

I read a quote somewhere recently, something like 'the purpose of debate is not victory but understanding' and that's something I've enjoyed on this and other OS threads.
We've all been stressing about what the statement on weds would bring and I think that's prompted more chat-type posts, understandable in the circumstances that people want to share worries where they know others will understand.
Aint that the truth!
Also a very good point - which I've certainly been aware of - that a poster made about how she has noticed that (because people are feeling more stressed than normal these days) that they are sometimes saying things they wouldnt even think normally. Her comment being that it feels like a pressure cooker to her. I've certainly noticed that. It IS difficult to "respond to the times without being OF the times" and not always manageable...0
