This has been triggered by MG's post about planning what to do in the New Year. I have become very guilty of planning ahead to the extent that I am not making the best use of the present. As a result I feel woolly (and that's not just the 'flu). I like I am drifting aimlessly through my days and that my days have no structure and no direction – well I am and they haven't.

Ds's diagnosis of Autism 18 months ago has been the biggest life change event that I have experienced so far in 46 years. It has taken my life and blown it apart – all my anchors that previously defined my life gone. The difficulty I have had is establishing new anchors; new routines – most probably because I have had a lot of difficulty trying to accept and come to terms with our “new” reality.

I hear you on this. when DS was diagnosed at the start of this year (although not "officially on paper" until July) it wasn't completely unexpected but still devastating nonetheless. Even now I have moments where I am struggling with this (this week in fact- tends to be when DS has a bad week).
I am not sure how old your DS is but if you need child care in order for you to be able to fulfil your dreams then perhaps consider a childminder who has experience of additional needs.

Winky - sending you lots of "baby-out" vibes although if you're anything like me with my DS it was 13 days overdue <gulp> Goodness I'd well and truly had enough by that pointI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning lovelies, well thanks to Mr F and his patience I am finally into the other site! Was feeling very left out on all your bits and bobs.
Have been awake since 7 thinking about budgets and whether I can afford a holiday next year. Need to number crunch now but would be lovley to get away and get some sun.
Had a long chat with my sister last night. She lives in Oz and was trying to weigh up coming home next year v's going to do missionary work in the Philipenes with her church. Hopefully I have persuaded her that we can all wait as I'm very proud of her and her desire to spend her money and holidays helping others and who knows when she'll get the chance again. Miss her lots but she has to do what's right for her. She's a great person. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
So just when I was feeling Bleurgh about London the door went.
In popped the 18 year old daughter of a friend. She was really struggling with her college course and had quit two weeks ago.
She spent a day wth me that week - and apparently went home and locked herself in her room for 36 hours and appeared with:- all her college notes in order,
- a mind-map of her curriculum posted on the wall,
- a realistic study schedule sorted out for catching on stuff missed when she was ill
- a folder and dividers sorted by subject
- "Blank" mind maps (Central images created) for the stuff being covered for the rest of the year.
- THREE overdue assignments, planned on mind-maps, written up and bound ready for submission (mind maps included)
- TWO assignements written that are not even due until week of the 20th December:T
- The three course books Mind Mapped in full
- A Mind Map of her "end of year" Project complete with "follow-on" monthly and weekly mind maps of TA-DA task!!!
- A fabulous full colour Mind Map of her argument as to why the college should let her re-enroll and continue with her course.
Her Mum is at a training course today and left before the postie came ............... and bless her she had to share her excitement with someone ............................. and in turn I want to give all you poorlies some GREAT news this rainy morning.

Yeah she is feeling fabulous - shes upstairs playing with DS1 on the Playstation and I'm making some of her favourite pancakes as a snack.
She may be an adult in the colleges eyes - but sometimes when they are really excited they need to be kids again for a while - LOL
