What a fantastic result. It is events like that that make you know what you are going is the right thing to do.
Having trouble getting a response on the Matrix forum. Has anyone here dropped off kit at the storage place? I am trying to find out if I need anything other than just turn up with the kit - ie will the people there know what to do with it? Do I need some reference or something?
I am planning something in the region of a six hour round trip tomorrow and it would be good to know that I can hand over the kit safely, especially since some of it has travelled a long way to get as far as me....
Can anyone help?0 -
Woohoo. I have taken some babysteps. Something I should have done ages ago but put off and off and off. And its such an essential thing we should all do regularly (most people do it) Not i though arg.
On my drive from MG's on Tuesday evening (part of my nerves driving in the drk is due to the fact that my sight has deteriorated over the years). not dangerously I might add but enough to know that I need glasses :eek::eek:. I do have an off the cuff pair of reading glasses, but not prescription lenses. My bad so I am. But have been feeeling eye-strain ever since over the past couple of days.
Was in town and went into an opticions on the off chance of making an appointment.
Receptionist says "He can do it NOW."
"Oh." says I, jaw-dropping in shock. "ok.":o
So that's me, eyes duly tested and will be picking up my 2 pairs of prescription lenses next Thursday.
Result, reality check and I've learnt it does pay to do what you know needs done. Slowly but surely I am dealing with things I've put off for years. Yay there's hope for me yet :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Edit. 1 more MSE babystep to take today. A lovely Matrix member gifted me a breadmaker and I've got all the stuff so going to attempt my 1st basic loaf. Go me lol. Will let you know if its edible or.......................!!!!!!!!!0 -

My father had glaucoma, and it's something that is only detected at the opticians with the eye pressure check until after major damage is done. So another one here promoting regular eyechecks.0 -
Good afternoon
MG what a fab result for that young lady! wish her every best in the future.
Any news from Winkey?
Well done fantasia, whats your next goal?
Well dining room is not going to be as straight forward as we thought need new skirting boards throughout, and dh has had to dismantle a cupboard that was built around the gas meter to get the skirting boards off the wall.
My mate has been down to look at the bay window, all the glass needs replacing, and he is going to clean up the sills and plastic and put new trim on, he said it won't be so draughty then. Will take about a week to order the new glass.
My from garden is clear tooBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -

Absolutely!!
I had an eye test earlier this year about 2 1/2 years after my last one so not that late - I was only down to have eye tests every two years.
However I was shocked to be diagnosed with glaucoma. In that 2 1/2 years it had progressed to the point where I was beginning to get a definite blind spot in one eye. Fortunately it is fully compensated for by the other eye so I have been allowed to keep my driving licence although I will have to reapply every three years and be retested to see if my sight has deteriorated further. Fortunately I am responding to the eye drops so my consulatnt is hopeful it will be very slow progression (they can't stop it completely but with luck I should still have fairly good sight into my 80s).
But if I had not had that eye test it could have been a lot worse. Apparently you don't actually notice the loss of vision until about 50% of the cells in the optic nerve are dead.
So now I have a positive missionary zeal about urging everyone to have regular eye testsIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Sounds a bit like me - Our Wedding Anniversary on 23 Dec, Brothers Birthday on 25 Dec, DS1 Birthday on 28th Dec, My Birthday 1st Jan and OH on 2nd Jan!
Hope you don't mind me joining in - I have been trying to catch up on this thread, but there's so much to read - anyone fancy diluting 200+ pages into a paragraph? :rotfl:Emergency Savings Fund - £11002015 Mortgage overpayments = £0 -
