Its good that everyone has been honest, if they've had reservations about the Secret. But its best to question and blind acceptance is naive. I think the true message is the positivity and the truth about gratitude.
I didnt get the breadmaker from Freecycle but something will turn up.

I got slaughtered at bowls lol, but the pizza was good:).

Have a routine mammogram in the morning , get them yearly but still a lot of pulling and stretching, heyho though, safe not sorry.
  • Right, been lurking and striving to read all the many pages of both threads, but I'm struggling to keep up with all the posts so just going to comment on something I've just read. I don't know if you've resolved it or not, so here goes.

Memory Girl I'm reading the bit where you are talking about the HT possibly not opening the school afetr Christmas. and assuming you are looking for a Montessori school, I remember that a friend took her son to a Montessori school in or around Blairgowrie/Coupar Angus. Now I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but not so far as London. I have no idea if it's still there, but thought I'd mention it. I've not much else to add other than you've started something really big here MG!! And I hope I can be part of it once I know exactly what "It" is!! (I'm kind of alternating between both diaries and still have many pages to get through yet, but getting the idea!
PS I'm not too far from you, across the water. Seems to be lots of MSErs near here!

    It's only a game

Also, all you crafters any idea where I can get some cellophane? I am making chocolate butterflies and castles for the littlies in my families for Christmas. They will be covered in marshmallows ect. I want them to look like a proper pressie and can find ribbons and bows but not something to wrap them in to help with freshness.

I look forward to your sugegstions.

    Sx
I think Hobbycraft sell it or you could try a local florist.

Hobbycraft is ridiculously expensive. I use http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Wrappings-and-Bows/Business-Information.html they are always helpful and quick

  • Further to the comments about the Secret, one quote that has always stuck with me is:
"Pray to god, sailor, but row for the shore."

I can't help but feel that positivity and optimism are the two main forces that bring us success, rather than any higher power (which as a life-long cynic I often find quite difficult). As a practising pagan, I do believe in gods and goddesses but I would not expect praying for assistance to get me anywhere if I did not put in the effort at my end of things.

Can I just ask - by higher power here do you mean God in the traditional sense? xx

  • Its like that story about the guy in the flood - the village all pack up and leave, he stays saying the Lord will provide, first day a boat goes by guy says no, the Lord will provide, 2nd Day, another boat, bloke now on roof, no the Lord will provide, 3rd day, a helicopter comes by offering an airlift, the bloke says no the Lord will provide.

Next thing the bloke knows he is in heaven and he says to God, but why didn't you provide Lord? God says, I sent two boats and a helicopter what more did you want?????????

So yes, hugely sceptical about the Secret but many of the ideas about learning and positive thinking have been floating around for a while and I love this thread (even tho sometimes it drives me nuts, trying to keep up) because they are all here together for people to use, the success of Claire is amazing and MG is a clear inspiration, such drive and willpower. It is for me what you do yourself to make you dreams come true and what you learn from life when things go wrong. With me it seems to be things take time and I need to give myself that time.

Hope everyone here has a really good week.

    Love Buffyxx

Sea - I was using it in this context to refer to both 'the Universe' as an entity capable of granting wishes and also all deities, not necessarily just 'God.'

It is not that I do not believe in the existence of such beings but that I think all of us as individuals are capable of achieving great things by ourselves and that often 'the power of prayer' or cosmic ordering type activities produce success not because these beings have intervened directly but because we have been able to push aside doubt and gain the self-belief needed to make the desired thing happen.

And sometimes things just all come together in the right place and the right time and perhaps it is more than just coincidence. Sometimes it seems things are fated to be or not to be, but mostly I think we make our own fate and our own luck and everyone is amazing and capable of great things if they can allow themselves to be.

Hoping that makes sense at just past midnight...
