I've just checked it... and it contains:
shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste (x2), perfume, moisturiser, body lotion, foot cream, hand cream, night cream, eye drops, lip balm, lipsticks & gloss (several), mascara, facial spray thingy (I use powder foundation with a moisturising spray to set, which is also handy on flights), deodorant, travel aromatherapy pulse point oil, nail oil and hand sanitiser... I can actually reduce this for a european flight, so might do that in the morning!
OK... must go to bed, I'm shattered, and need to be up at 6am to deal with the stewed apple lake and apple mountain in the kitchen...0 -
Greenbee, I'd go with the jersey dresses for evening for sure. They can easily be dressed up or down as necessary.
I'm a pretty good packer (in terms of getting stuff in) after all my years of travelling but don't do packing light and always take lots of toiletries with me. What do you decant your products into?
My big suitcases were always a running joke when I was overseas. My teams all loved it though when they needed some lotion or potion or a handbag to match something or other and knew they could come to me!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -

My big suitcases were always a running joke when I was overseas. My teams all loved it though when they needed some lotion or potion or a handbag to match something or other and knew they could come to me!I think I've probably got enough to see me through. Next weekend is going to be interesting, washing/ironing/dry cleaning it all in time for the next trip on Monday! If it wasn't two week-long trips in a row I'd probably be OK.
Most of my products aren't decanted (except shampoo & conditioner, which are in trial sizes I found and now decant into, and JUST last me). The rest are just products I've found in the right size that I like. I also take face wipes but they don't have to go in the clear bag apparently. Oh... and I found a nail polish in there too!
I'm shattered... but I need to wake up and get on with things or I'll never be ready. And thanks for reminding me that I need to take more than one handbag. I'd nearly forgotten  TBH, I think I probably have less than a lot of my colleagues, but OH travels incredibly light. If I left out the gym and swimming stuff I'd have a lot less too, but I want to have the option to have a break.0 -
Last night I went out to a 60th party. Helen is an old work colleague and a super person, she enjoys parties so much she makes everyone else enjoy it.
Anyway she & her partner have been together about 10 years and she has wanted to get married but he always said that he'd done it once and didn't see the need to do it again so you can imagine the surprise when towards the end of the night he took to the microphone to announce that Helen's present from him was an engagement ring. Tears and hugs and laughter all round.0 -
Morning all!
A while back we (Double Trouble and others I think) were talking about learning Welsh. Someone on another thread has just mentioned they are learning using the BBC Welsh Challenge, thought it might be useful here too? It seems to have audio and printed parts.

I know you all believe totally in The Secret and if you kick me out of the thread so be it, but I really struggle with the concept of 'if you do this and this everything will come right for you' 'as long as you believe it will happen'
Why do I have a problem? Because when 'it' doesn't happen the other half of the theory kicks in - 'it's your fault' 'you didn't believe enough'
I've just been looking at the web-site. Truly inspirational stories, but would they print the one from the other 'Secret believer' who was up for the same job and didn't get it, didn't find the medical treatment their relative needed.
I guess I stopped believing in miracles 45 years ago when my wonderful father died aged 61 instead of having the happy retirement he so deserved. OK maybe my prayers (or me) wern't good enough to help him but mum's should have been.
Sorry, I seem to be on a downer this morning for absolutely no reason.0 -
You have a yoghurt maker? What do you put in (milk, fruit sugar)? And would you recommend one? Where did you get it from etc.?
I've got a lakeland plug in - one litre at a time job that I got for £3 at a car-boot. We eat loads of indian foods so making our own yog is a must for raitha, we also eat it for breakfast wth muesli and honey, as a snack through the day with fresh fruit and as a pudding with fruit compote.
I also like it as a lassi (indian drink) with salt and lime or sour mango.
I've also got one that makes yogurt in individual pots - which I use for packed lunches (£2 differenct car boot) and a easi-yo that I got for a pound that I just make yogurt in without the sachets that you buy.
I also get good results from throwing it all in a thermos food flask overnight.
My recipe (full fat cos feeding a toddler but can be made even with UHT milk or skimmed)
I litre milk - heated to blood temp
Whisk in 2 tbsp powdered milk
4 large tablespoons live yogurt (save the last scoop from your first batch to make your second)
Whisk all together then pour into the yogurt maker or heated thermos (hot tap water is enough). Leave overnight and pour into a covered jug or bowl and store in the fridge where it will thicken.
Then all you have to do is put on another batch when your store gets low.

PS I got into doing this at home after the nth time I got a tub of yogurt all over my groceries whilst transporting it home.FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY DEBT FREESmall Emergency Fund £500 / £500

Ah craftyscholar, have a hug (((((((((())))))))))
We're not all complete believers hereI'll confess I've never read the secret, and have no intention of doing so
I have a similar problem with the flip side of it that you have. And I also generally think that the reason things sometimes happen if/when you believe, isn't because the universe is helping, it's because you're focused on it, putting energy into it, talking to people about it, and you find other solutions than the one you'd thought of.
But having said that, that applies to things like business ventures etc, but not to things like treating illnesses (although I realise there is research about positive thinking etc - but that I think applies to the person themselves, not their relatives). You must *not* think AT ALL that you weren't good enough to help your dad. I'm absolutely sure you did ALL you could, and what happened was NOTHING to do with you, or your mum.
I think with this, like with many other things, you have to take the things that are useful to you, and leave the rest. So if you find it useful to think positively, put effort into things, talk to people, make things happen.
But also remember that sometimes things happen, sometimes they don't, and sometimes whether they do or don't depends on something you've done, and sometimes it doesn't.
Sorry, that's probably not very coherent, but I just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one!And you will NOT be kicked out of the thread at all! This is about support and courage, NOT one specific book, even if it helps a lot of people with their thinking.
Having said that, I think individually people should use whatever methods (the secret, prayer etc) help them - and you should do what helps you.
Now have a cup of tea and be kind to yourself xx0 -

Craftyscholar, couple of points. I want to believe that the friendships and camaraderie that developed around this thread (and some others) is much deeper that the Secret - hence kicking anybody off the thread is out of the question. If anything we appreciate debate, and let say it. dissent (at least I do, passionately).
And I am glad you raised this point because I have a slight problem with the Secret as well - it is in the ordering part (one orders from the menu of the Universe). I have come to believe in the two main facets ot it though - that the Universe is mentality and that the law of attraction does work. I do find something else (metaphysics again) more convincing (the Meta Secret; for more check my thread - detailed presentation there, sometime in August).
