Morning Girls & Guy
MG - Hope you enjoyed yourself....I'm tempted to wink but it could have been a perfectly innocent meeting..... (;) )
Day off for me :j and then I have two short weeks as I'm away to England for a long weekend next friday but I'm off work Thursday (for my 2nd interview) and not back until the following wednesday.
I am in complete denial about christmas. Santa who?? so I think my challenge is to get myself into gear and at least make detailed list of what we have to get and go from there. Think I'll get a not book from the shops today and work on it while I have a quiet weekend.
I want to make sure dinners for the working week are cooked and ready to just serve up so the slow cookers will be in use this weekend.
Have a great day
Do it online hun, that's what I do, the Grabbit boards have tons of great offers and glitches, Boots have three for two and extra points evenings, where if you spend £50.00 you get £12.00 worth of points back on your boots card, they have Cath Kitson stuff and Emma Bridgewater stuff online if that's your thing.
Don't forget Quidco and Topcashback etc, HotUkDeals s another great site that I'm [STRIKE]addicted to[/STRIKE] interested in, just some amazing bargains out there.
There are some great threads too about making your own hampers and chocolate slabs, all MSEing but lovely, thoughtful and unique pressie ideas.

MG! Get your backside back in here and tell us the gossip! :T :T0 -
It is Mandarin. Cantonese is 'for the Hong Kong peasants
'. Not that I can speak a word of course, but friend lives there & is fluent. (She's also fluent in Swahili but doesn't get much of a chance to use the two together :rotfl:)
Wow, what a combo! I'm jealous!
And ClootiesMum, your friend is going to need some serious lessons: Mandarin is tonal, meaning that if you say the right words with the wrong inflection in your voice, people won't have a blummic' clue what you are saying. When I lived in China, I swear that nobody understood a word that my friends or I said for at least the first fortnight cos our tones weren't right! :rotfl:Please call me 'Pickle'
No More Buying Books: ???
No More Buying DVDs: ???
NMB Toiletries ??? and I've gone back for my Masters at the University of Use Ups!
Proud to be dealing with her debts 1198~

Morning all!
Just received this email:
I have about two kits that we could donate to your project.
Press-wise just some pictures of the young people in the kit would be good. I also work with a number of deprived communities in London and was wondering if there was some way we could put the young people in touch with each other eg. Our kids sponsor each set of kit and write a letter to the young person receiving it.
Let me know if something like this would be viable.
Kind regards,
JEN EMENY

What do you think peeps?
Olive could I put this person in touch with you to sort something out do you think? If so please PM me your email address.0 -

Considering she's a Geordie in Scotland & even we struggle to understand her at times I dread to think what she'll do to the language out thereDebts 07/12/2021

Backside reporting for duty
Righto!!! Guess you want to know why I was out at a ritzy hotel last night with mysterious French Mentor .......................??
Nah!!!! nothing like that, just having a really difficult time adjusting to being back at work - had a bit of a melt-down this week, what with the school situation and my friend being offered HER dream job and me still slogging through the start-up birth pains. Also her contact (a local speaker) told her that I'd be lucky to make £3000 additional income per year and I should go and get a job in Tesco's:eek::eek: Would like to know how much SHE made last year, cos my Memory Guy mate made 6 figures really, realy working at it.
I think I had completely lost my focus and he was sent up on a mercy mission (also scouting out the Fairmont as he is planning a civil ceremony next year and fell in love with the hotel during my "audition")
Now before anyone panics - for the last 3 weeks I have sold enough books to keep my head above water according to my SOA. Its more the case that I feel I am floundering around with the marketing stuff and getting myself in knots.
So Mr Mentor made me pull on a winter coat and hat and we walked around the streets of St A last night, chatting and looking in all the shop windows. They are all lit up with their Christmas displays - lovely. I realised (with a bit of prompting) that I feel completely outside the "consumer" society now - even though the windows were all Christmassy and sparkly didn't look at anything and think "Oooh I want that!!!!"
Guess Martins Money Mantras really work:rotfl:
What the whole freezing three hours boiled down to was that I need to change my attitude towards the sales process. Its ironic because I hate picking up the phone and making the calls - and yet I am really successful at getting people interested in playing along.
I have such a resistance to the phone at the moment (maybe a hangover from the horrible times not so long ago where every phone call was a a call about money - or lack of)
So my challenge is to spend 15 minutes per day concenrating on making the phone my friend again.
We eventually made it back to hotel (hot chocolate and spicy panetonne to defrost)
Back to the hedgehog principle he went. Great business do only what they can be the best in the world at. Well thats fairly easy for me to define - buthe wanted me to "get" that although I'm"the best" the business is about communicating that to others.
But words are so darn difficult for me - not these chatty ramblings, but "proper" sales and marketing stuff. He talked me around to a different proposition, by saying that your marketing style should be doing what really comes naturally and joyfully to you.
"you are the best in your field, you are the best speaker to communicate that, you are the product ................. so you don't need "sales letters" you need to be in front of people, speaking about your passion .................... how can you do that?"
So I went through the ususal hoops of offering and him countering.
1. Free Talks - for starter speakers refining their craft
2. Networking groups - time away from your boys when you are not earning
3. Get a speakers agent - they will still expect you to do the marketing and take a high percentage for the privilidge
4. Make a DVD - expensive but possible
5. Put a demo video on YouTube - getting warmer
6. Make my sales letters, sales video clips that I email to my target market - now that's worth persuing!!!!!
Funy thing is I am a graduate of a local "Broadcasting Skills" course. So this morning I went down to meet the tutors to ask whether they would consider creating a strategic alliance - where they video my inserts and I train their students in return. Very MSE strategic alliances are :rotfl:
Looks like it could be a go-er.
What do you think?

MG: I think the alliances sound like a win-win situation, especially if you have the contacts already and don't mind asking them. It's funny you are hanging back on the marketing front because you always seem so much more of a 'go-getter' than the rest of us, not afraid of asking people and as you say really successful at getting people to play along. There has to be a way to get around the 'phonophobia'!0
