I'm up for this as well. Am currently sorting and repurposing as much as I can, so a firm public commitment to achieve specific goals would be very useful.

Morning everyone. Welcome Hera - it took me ages to make my first post after lurking for ages then it was a long time til I was began to post even remotely regularly.

Cheery Daff, found your blog via the most convaluted route which involved Pania's blog too. Don't ask! It is so inspiring - love your photographs! We had our first attemPt at growing veg this year - left it much too late in the year bur what did grow was delicious. I am researching like mad and will be on the ball for next year. I am also considering treating myself to a cheap sewing machine - had one years ago but it is long gone now.

Had such trouble logging into the Matrix forum yesterday so will try later on today. On holiday from work this week and have cancelled mini trip away - we have had so much trouble and expense with the car. so, am going to play - making Christmas cards!

    Morning All,

    MG: How's your head today?

I am up for a 50 day challenge also - I think mine will be on getting or ganized, de-cluttering(nearly done) and trying to get focused on WHAT I WANT.

TescoDeals: I am on my second year of veg growing, which was much btter than 1st. Some disasters still. But be warned, I started bt growing veg, had surplus tomatoes and made chutney. Then it just grew - have made jam and chutney all year - it grew some more - started foraging and it continues to grow!!

Sewing machine, mine came out of hibernation last week and has been moderately buzy so far.

Just realized I think I'm getting signs from the Universe as to WHAT I want to do. Off to jot them down.:j

Do you have a sewing machine shop near you?

You will get a much better deal looking at second-hand reconditioned machines than going for one of the cheap new ones.

Mike - how big do your stencils need to be? Have previously made some for theatre lights from the inside of a flattened beer can which cut v. easily with a craft knife... although did use quite a few blades and they were only 5" squares.

Up to 2 metres square and very detailed... a laser job...

Definitely up for the 50-day challenge - mine will be to completely de-clutter the house(drawers, wardrobes, cupboards - everywhere)in time for Christmas.

I'm already visualising waking up on Christmas morning to a wonderful, warm, welcoming restful house, Christmas lights twinkling away, and the joy of knowing that everything I see and know to be in the house is something that is useful, I love and cherish, or both.

    This got me thinking GQ.

    Q. How long does it take to cover over the brown marks on grouting on en suite floor with a silver pen?
    A. Approx 90 secs, including running under hot tap to get lid off :T

    Q. How long had I been putting off doing it?
    A. About 2 years :o

    Q. How long does it take to throw out a chipped bowl that annoys me every time I use it?
    A. 3 seconds (didn't even wash it first :rotfl:) :T

    Q. How long does it take to put away the boxes with all summer shoes that have been sitting on spare room bed for weeks, having finally accepted the fact I do not have time to photograph them & all and stick a picture on the front (I know, it's my 1 OCD action :o)?
    A. About 2 minutes :T

    Q. How long does it take to pile the stuff for ebay that has also been sitting on spare room bed for weeks, having finally accepted the fact I do not have time to do it right now, and stick in a box under bed?
    A. About 2 minutes, including obligatory bracing self against wall and shoving :T

    Q. How many deodorants do I need to have sitting on the side in bedroom at any one time?

    A. The answer is NOT 6, despite evidence to the contrary. The CORRECT answer is one, with all the rest [STRIKE]bunged in a drawer[/STRIKE] stowed neatly away :T

    Q. How long does it take to fetch from garage a screw thing for bottom of light for spare room so I can put up a lampshade?

    A. Watch this space......... Edit: 4 minutes, including sticking a bag of shoes for charity shop in the car :T

    Thanks GQ, it's a start :)

  • Thanks for tip Crafty Scholar and Robsmum - not sure if we have local shop but have seen reconditioned machines on internet now and you are so right - more investigation needed on my part I think.

Aw, thanks TDQ :o Good luck with your veg growing and sewing machine :T

Gallygirl, you are SOOOOOO right! :rotfl: I was once whining and moaning about hanging the washing up, hated doing it, we don't have an outisde washing line, I don't like the room it hangs in etc etc etc :rotfl: One day I pulled myself together and *set a stopwatch*. Do you know how long it took to hang the washing up?? THREE MINUTES :rotfl: :rotfl:

I decided I could manage 3 minutes without complaining, and have never moaned about it since :D

Well spent my 15 minutes exploring Facebook. Hopefully back in touch with 2 friends I'd lost contact with, so a successful first foray :)

Need to explore it more and get it working properly for me :)

It's all about positive mental attitude isn't it? For example, I try to control my work diary and put all meetings in for a Monday. I used to write my to-do list first thing, then be hacked off at the end of the day as I've achieved nothing, even although list was unrealistic. Now I write the whole day off to deal with meetings & 'stuff that crops up'. If I actually achieve anything on the list I see it as a bonus. Managed 2 things yesterday :j
