Was thinking of my networks to help in this, :D

actually wasn't... but the subconscious pushed through some new neural pathways and brought it to my conscious minds attention ;)

    anyways...

    large local authority

good friends, one is a taxi driver, who has a radio...and could get on said radio and ask re the shirts,

football and rugby mad friends, one of whom coaches young footballers locally,

my Uncle who is currently in South Africa as he works for a childrens charity and has contacts here, there and everywhere.

That wasn't even thinking thoroughly about it either.

Now I'm based in a city with a port, a busy port with huge freight lorries thundering through daily, so there must be someone who knows someone who knows how we can do the transport side effectively.

My DD's, whilst at school regulalry do the 'shoebox' scheme where we packed a shoebox full of useful items and goodies either for boy or girl and these would then be shipped off to orphanages in Africa. It'd be a question of finding out who, when how they have done this and maybe utilising their system, if it ain't broke as they say.....

Anyways have a good day Matrix buddies et al. x

Yay to Mr Big :T And MG! What can I say, wow! :j :j :j Hope you get to do that keynote speech! :j (or is it several over the year??) How very exciting! And how very generous of you to donate the money :j :j Olive, what *could* you do with an extra £10,000??? Oh, this is so exciting!

I know nobody who is remotely into football at all, but will get asking round... :j

Well I figure this would be a piece of work that I wouldn't even be in the running for if we weren't doing this challenge - so appropriate that the money flows around don't you think?

Oohh!!! I hope we get it now:j

But if you think about it (from stuff I've covered in my coaching calls)

I stand up in front of 800 business owners
Each of those business owners is going to do their own 250 list
They then select their top 50 people

So if I am really good they could potentially refer me to 40,000 people - and if only 1% of those people send someone on the Students Survival Guide Training (400 people) then I am nearly halfway to my target of 1000 students aren't I?

    So everybody wins:j:j:j

My children go to young carers run by the barnardos charity, I was thinking of contacting them to see if they would like to get involved with kits 4 kids. What do you think? I'm no good with words or on the phone so what would I say etc? they both have a meeting next week.

OK, you would think some of these clubs didn't want anyone to get in touch, they make it hard to find the numbers etc! I've put together what seemed like the best contact details, sometimes I wasn't sure whether to go for the Press Office or the Community dept but I'm sure they will be able to point people in the right direction.

I've stuck them into a Google document at
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Am5RK8aUTZ7-dFVKQmluZDI5WlNMZDJhbHhZTm9uZWc&hl=en&authkey=CNa5qNUM - hope this works OK for everyone.

    Clairewop,

I would say something like this,

Hi, I'm wondering who I would need to speak to re a project I'm involved in called Kits4 kids, its about recycling old football kit for children in South Africa who basically have nothing, but despite that, love sport and especially football.

We're looking for old kit that can be collected and sent to orphanages before christmas, great christmas idea, don't you think?

Most footballers/sporty people have some kind of old kit somewhere, don't they?

Have you any ideas of who I need to speak to, and how I need to get this idea out there quickly, thanks for your time.

I'd avoid the word 'Charity' as this seems to put many people off due to its overuse these days and many people appear to associate the word charity as a request for money...which this isn't.

  • If I remember rightly way back on the old thread - it's premier team shirts we're after
There you go, just goes to prove I should stop skipping/ missing pages :o- cheers CM- glad you said something-think I need to pm MG about purchasing a book!:)

But still you could use the site as the word would filter down and small teams could have a "collection point/box/person"at training & matches they could still donate their outgrown/old premier team shirts?

  • Just brainstorming what we can ask the clubs to do:

    Announcements at matches
Advertise Kits4Kids on their websites (main page, shop etc), mobile internet sites, smartphone apps, dedicated pay per view/subscription video channels
Posters all around the club premises
Staff going to schools/working with youth etc to take poster

Stress we are not asking for money just old kids strips via their supporters

    Other ideas?
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
