I have a friend who used to be in shipping so i have sent her an email re all of this. Not sure if she still has the contacts, but you never know..plus my uncle is a scout for a well known Football club ( youth team) he is currently poorly but i will ask him to ask the club. I am sure it won't be a problem.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Yes please!Oooo, I love this. I feel (who said it) fizzy.
Olive - no I dont think we should have had a structured plan to start with because as MG says we would never get off the ground. However, has Helen says, if we want to go big we have to look like we can handle it. So whilst we might all be like swans and look like swans in public I am sure that our little legs will be doing 20 to the dozen behind the scenes.
Need some info for the poster man (who also made big things happen in a short space of time by the way) if he is to get it done today
)I am in and out of meetings all day - could somebody pull some words together and I will check in at lunch then send them over to him? Unless he happens to read on here and wants to post himself
Ok, so what can we do let's say by the end of October?
We have 23 days...
Then, that leaves us with another 30 days, in November to deliver on time.
- Who said they could pull a list together of football clubs? - Can it be done this weekend so we can divvying it up and start calls next week? I definitley think the first call should be to Leeds and if we speak to their PR team I bet they could get Lucas R on board whilst he is in the country.
Well I've found a page that makes starting on a list quite easy - here's the Championship http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/ClubMediaContacts/0,,10794~1357329,00.html
I'll get the Premier League list put together today as I'm not online much at the weekend.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Overnight I had an email from Mr Big and thought it appropriate to post it here rather than on the blog.:D

" Hello Matrix Maestro's,
Looks like you guys are off and rolling - keep it going.
I don't know Richard personally - but someone in my network might so I will ask around.
I am meeting with the Head of an International Networking association today - strikes me that I should be proposing Memorygirl as their Keynote speaker for the 2011 International Conferences. WHEN you guys pull this off by Christmas she has the ideal opportunity to show these "networking professionals" how it can really be done.
And I think a fee of £10,000 for the honour for hearing her will be about perfect - especially as Memorygirl has already agreed that the fee should go directly to the Katha Day Centre. Her idea to "Pay it Forward" incidentally.
What could you do with another £10,000 OliveOyl?
So my question, Memorygirl Matrix Members? Show me how you are going to do this .................... but think about the old question "How do you eat an elephant" - "one bite at a time"!!!
I am sure you will hook up with big organisations who will help - but they bigger they are the tougher it is to get them to beat their "corporate intertia" - to get them going and delivering.
Individually you can connect with many people who can conect wth others if you motivate them to!! - start there and start building piles of tops indvidually and it will soon happen for you all, it truly will begin to "snowball"
Just my little bit to help

Hello Just de-lurking for a mo:wave:....
Kits 4 kids - not sure if anyone has posted it before (as I seem to skip/miss some pages, not good I know) but have you thought of trying to get some kind of "advert" on the FA website?
Its just my DD3 plays for a local ladies/girls team in a local league and so we always use the FA fulltime website to check results & stuff - its a national website but used by all smaller (inc kids teams) it could be a way of getting the message out there to the smaller teams/clubs who may have kids/teen size old kits sitting it garages/lofts etc-
Just a thought....hope it helps- if its already been mentioned, sorry for repeating but at least I can say I popped my head up:)
Keep up the wonderful work - Truly inspiring!

OK - CM from Scotland calling
If I remember rightly way back on the old thread - it's premier team shirts we're after. Going on this & anyone let me know if I'm wrong then I'll take on the first 6 Scottish Premier teams on the list from groatie queen namely Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Hamilton, Heart of Midlothian & Hibs - if that's OK & I'm not stepping on anybody's toes.
Will work out action plan over weekend & will call on Monday/Tuesday.....
Is that OK?Debts 07/12/2021

We need to keep track of numbers of tops etc
To aid logistics at the South Africa end, it would probably be a good idea for tops, boots etc to be sorted into sizes before the boxes are sealed and sent on their way to the UK holding depot.
And it would help if a list of contents with numbers of each size of top, boots etc is then written on the outside of the box, with these numbers emailed to the UK co-ordinator and OliveOyl.
Will we include a wee note with each top? This could be done at the SA end - Happy Christmas with love from Memorygirl's Matrix or summat similar? Or one big poster along the same lines for each place the kit goes to?If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Yay to Mr Big :T And MG! What can I say, wow! :j :j :j Hope you get to do that keynote speech! :j (or is it several over the year??) How very exciting! And how very generous of you to donate the money :j :j Olive, what *could* you do with an extra £10,000??? Oh, this is so exciting!
I know nobody who is remotely into football at all, but will get asking round... :j0 -
Hi
I have just started reading your thread so dont know much about whats happening but i did see your challenge for 10,000 football shirts - I have a couple of ideas which you may have already thought of but just in case.........
1 contact every football club - there must be a MSE person in all most evry town - not just the big ones but all the clubs as some of the small ones would be pleased to be part of it.
2 ask everyone to post a wanted add on freegle/freecycle
3 ask for it to be featured on local radio - the fact that you are trying to raise so many shirts AND get them there for Christmas you need a big push - plenty coverage - people like Round Table organisations might like to help?
Memory Girl i wondered what happened to you - your origianl story under a different username was featured as the thread of the week and as I am in Scotland too I follwed it and found it inspiring - you had just got the house at that point I think and just found yourself on your own if I remember.
good luck
toots
ETA I see you have already had the football clubs idea!
If whoever is co-ordinating the collection and shipping could work out when the container has to be shipped - the last date for delivery in time for Christmas then you would have a target date and it will help when trying to get stuff from corporate places - the deadline will be short and they wont have time to procrastinate?Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder
Live each day as if its your last
