  • To add to cherisong's and helen's :

    1. a website
    2. a director
    3. collection point
    4. deadline
    5. transport

To cover these points we need dedicated people - who's doing what, as Firewalker suggested.

Any overspill of tshirts can go towards xmas 2011, maybe as oliveoyl suggested - donate to more than one place if the number of donations is large.

Also the idea of collection boxes is spot on - could we approach a manufacturer that would in the name of charity provide the boxes - someone might know someone...

Ok, so what can we do let's say by the end of October?
    We have 23 days...

Then, that leaves us with another 30 days, in November to deliver on time.

My local team (Norwich) have a few high profile connections - Stephen Fry and Delia Smith who are on the board, plus the lovely Jake Humphrey.....(who went to the same school as my two).

Messrs Fry and Humphrey are v active on Twitter, although I am not, so if someone wanted to tweet them with kits for kids, they may get a favourable response. My DD is on twitter so I can ask her to do it when she is home from her Dad's later in the weekend....

Ok, I am getting requests from my friends for the website for the kits as they want to tweet the information  I am now following everybody who is following MG and I have asked my friends to click to follow me. If anybody on here is following MG, can we all follow each other? The more people we follow the more information we can get out there.

Oooo, I love this. I feel (who said it) fizzy.

Olive - no I dont think we should have had a structured plan to start with because as MG says we would never get off the ground. However, has Helen says, if we want to go big we have to look like we can handle it. So whilst we might all be like swans and look like swans in public I am sure that our little legs will be doing 20 to the dozen behind the scenes.
Need some info for the poster man (who also made big things happen in a short space of time by the way) if he is to get it done today
)I am in and out of meetings all day - could somebody pull some words together and I will check in at lunch then send them over to him? Unless he happens to read on here and wants to post himself :)

    • Who said they could pull a list together of football clubs? - Can it be done this weekend so we can divvying it up and start calls next week? I definitley think the first call should be to Leeds and if we speak to their PR team I bet they could get Lucas R on board whilst he is in the country.

    Morning All

    Happy New Thread!!

Just a couple of points re Kits-4-Kids
    1. We have a MASSIVE PR tool at our fingertips ..... Mr :money:himself! Who better to tell all about the Matrix and K4K? afterall he could claim credit as his site gave us the opportunity to form - Does anyone who posts/lurks have his 'ear'? His spot on Breakfast telly could be very useful!
    2. What about contact the national chains of Supermarkets to act as collection points?? anyone have contacts in the big ones? I think Tesco's are big on charity aid
    3. I read Mike's thread and lots of people emailed the producer of DIY SOS to get his case featured - and it worked! Perhaps someone could source an email for RB/Virgin PR Dept and we could draft up a plea email?

Have sent :money:a message - he helped me a few years ago by putting a piece in his newsletter when I was collecting ink cartridges to recycle to help fund my childrens' skiing, so have asked him to pop by, read the thread and see if he can do something similar.....

  • Just thought as well, oliveoyl - how are you doing at your end?
E.g. - where to is this shipment to arrive (this we will need to know when liasing with the airline or whoever will be shipping this), how it'll get from where it arrives initially to where it needs to be kept before the big day arrives - the logistics and the storage, and finally the distribution - is there someone at your end to help you with this?

p.s. - my primary school contacts are asking for a poster (also would like this for my local WI, fireservice and supermarket) - I can get the paper from the pound shop and print it all off, just need the poster. And also for expediency, instead of leaflets and boxes - once we have the poster, can I use this for the leaflets and maybe get cardboard boxes off freecycle (for the collection points) and stick some leaflets on those, too?

And is the poster going to inlude the link to the website or again for expediency - shall we use a blog instead of a website? And are we asking just for t-shirts or anything else relating to football? :)

We can edit our own posts on here. The first post on this thread was made by MG (obviously:D) so she's the one who can edit the 1st post to add extra things.
