Evening all, well a couple of hours away and I thought that the thread had been quiet, only to find a whole new one. How exciting.
Clarire - hope DS is ok.
Bob - hope that your daughter is ok too. Congrats on the place in the marathon Can we have a roll call of all marathon runners on the first post and perhaps a list of new businesses created that we can add to. It may be a draw for new readers to see the kind of things that we are all getting up to
Lara, well done on getting over the collywobbles. You will be just fine and it sounds like you have a lovely landlady there
Ok, I have sent out emails to all of my contacts for the shirts, my profile on FB says I need Kits4Kids (might change it to 10000 smiles)
I have found a contact address for the Kaiser Chiefs http://www.kaiserchiefs.co.uk/contact.php. I am happy to do some phoning/writing to anybody that is required.
Apologies but I am going into work gear here. OK here goes. If this project, and this is our first full on matrix project, is to succeed:-
- We need an action plan
- we need somebody to take the lead on this project. MG - you have enough on your plate if you dont mind me saying so. And different people volunteering to take the lead on certain admin bits - such as:-
- we need a table of some description to manage who is doing what, when, where and why for the kits including a list of who we need/want to contact in the public eye. We can then share the list out for people to do nominate themselves for specific calls and update with responses.
- we need to keep track of where we are up to with the collection of the kits
- we need a plan of how we will get all of the kits to the collection point in UK -where will the collection point be, who will be organising it, will it need to be managed
- I am sure there are more things to think about so we need a focus group meeting - any ideas of how this can be done? Skype, on line meeting of some kind? MSN etc
Phew, that felt good. Sorry but I am a big believer in working smartly. If we are going to make this work we need coordination.
Dare I suggest that we set up our own forum attached to the blog that we can have different topic headings so that we can keep track of what is going on? I am not a whizz on the web but I do know that there are some forum tools that can be set up for minimal or no cost. Completely agree - there is loads to be organised and it is a big operation. It is likely to demand very hight level coordination - including collection points; whether we centralised this or there are several points in the UK.
Getting football clubs interested is something someone can take on as well.
If I were to make a list it would be:
1) Organisation
2) bring together - media, football clubs, celebrity or two (possibly rock bands; Bob Gildoff something like that), many parents and children in the UK and other countries (we do have people from other countries)
3) Get PR going - this is likely to result in finding transport as well as raising the profile of the SAn orphans so more flows there.
This is the outline. Sorry if it does not make sense - very tired and half braindead I am.
