Hi Everyone,
Wow shiny new thread,
MG - I am more than happy to ring a few of the football clubs and ask re. their shirts. Never done this before (I think I mentioned that before) but am more than happy to.
OliveOyl - fab username btw - kept meaning to say this before. I will ask at work about the shirts, now that we have the charity name and resistered number it should make it a bit easier. Many thanks for posting this info. and thank you for the opportunity to be a part of something which will be amazing.
claire - So sorry to hear about DS am glad the police have responded to you so quickly. I will be putting cash into my account tomorrow so I can finally pay for my ear-rings.I have not had such an expensive time since I don't know when and just had a quote of £400 for some more house repair work
bob - hope DD is feeling better soon
Lara - Good to hear from you. I worked away from home once although it was not for as long a time as you. Whilst I was there it felt like such a long time but once home I looked back and it had all passed quickly. The best thing I did was to get out as much as possible, so when I wasn't working I was socialising or taking in as much of the culture and sight-seeing opportunities as possible and I kept a journal of things I had achieved, wanted to achieve and how the experiences I had gave me a different perspective on things. Not sure if this is any help to you - I am sure you will make the most of this amazing time.
PA - welcome back - I think I have worked out who you are - it's been a long day lol.CC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
I am trying to be different in Kampala, grounded and positive but those voices in my brain are still running at lightening speeds and I am still a mix of anxious, stressed, self-conscious and eager :rotfl: What really disappointed me most is that the thing I am most negative about is myself, which is no good -
Hi Lara, it is great to hear from you. Now about this negative thought and being negative about yourself - did you notice my post about the millionaire maker? Otherwise known as an elastic band around your wrist which you snap when you have negative thoughts? Guess what? It does work - Pavlovian or not. I just took mine off. The first week my wrist was red from snapping and then got much better; the last week did not need to do it at all...Need to wear it for a month all the time.
Worth a try! And the affirmations of course.
Love

Hi guys,
state of play here is that I have made couple of phone calls about arranging transport for the strips to SA. The idea was that if we manage to get an item on the news it is more likely that one of the Airlines will get interested in transporting these - even if it is dressed a one top per pasanger between now and Christmas, or something.
One of my contacts is going to ask around her PR contacts. The other one advised to try and send a news story to the Beeb - but did also say that charity is not interesting news (I suppose war, killing, rape and all the other horrors we get are much more interesting than good stuff). And then it occured to me that the charity is not the news - the way in whcih it is occurring is. I don;t believe that there has been before a virtual group that can organise itself to achieve this kind of things. It is a new from of organisation - virtual group following one rule: spend 15 minutes to support other group members. And it is happening.
What do you think?

Also wanted to say, having wanted to do some charity work again for some time - I have done various volunteer roles in the past - I have started making enquiries about applying for something again
I have also just enrolled on an Open Uni course:eek::j:rotfl:- all these emotions at the same time. Will start this next year but I can get all my planning in place now. (This is not creative writing btw.)
helen - I am writing a book, have various other drafts of things I have done also but the book is the focus for now. You mentioned that you did a creative writing course - did you find this helpful? The only reason I ask is the one I looked into was where you were given certain things to write about so 1 week you'd write a play, the next you'd have to write a story about x subject, write a film narrative and I wasn't sure for the cost and time that this was how I wanted to work *confused smiley*
So pleased I have booked the course which is something which will make me happy and hoping the volunteering works out.CC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
