Olive, which port is nearest you? Cape Town, J'burg, Durban or Port Elizabeth?

I may have a contact at a comapny i used to work for, they have worldwide offices and have their own sea freight section.

    We're in Jo'burg.

And I read about the Port of Jo'burg on all these freight sites..........but we're MILES from the sea :rotfl:

There will be a freight/ import depot in J'burg, so a shipment is transported from a port to j'burg and that is where is can be collected from. So the cot of transport from the coast to J'burg is included in the cost.

  • Well look at this - I nip out for a boring meeting to help write our new absence policy, and when I pop back this new baby has been born!!!!

    HELLOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sorry to hear about poorly/beaten up kiddies. Who's looking after the Matrix Mallet. I think a certain car driver needs a biffing!

Claire, £10-£20 for gold earrings is not really expensive. I think you're still undervaluing yourself. Can I pick the design I want, send you the money and you order/make them for me. It's gonna have to be after payday, but I am still definitely interested xx
  • So how long would it take to ship them by sea and clear customs? Its 11 weeks to Christmas - so if we really pushed it and got them together in a month, would that leave enough time?

Be worth it for the smiles on Xmas day -either that or we get creative about how to get them there:D

Could drive them there in 11 weeks - but that is probably taking the world tour a little too literally :rotfl:

I just thought of something, now please don't laugh... :)
Since the driving and sailing is not gonna deliver on time...
How about we would very nicely wrote to Mr. Richard Branson asap and had the cargo shipped on a Virgin plane? He is a really nice guy and always helpful. What do you all think?
Or by any chance, does anyone know anyone who might be able to help us to contact RB directly with this great idea?

I've started asking for the shirts and I'm more than happy to contact our local team and see what they are able to provide.

Should we be advising Olive, or one of our organisers in the Matrix (I do love writing that) as to which professional/local clubs we are approaching, so they don't get several calls/visits?

If anyone fancies looking the numbers out for the Press Office of all the big teams we could each call a couple and blag some shirts??? Just a thought

"Hi MG here, Manchester United are down for 30 shirts - shall I put Liverpool down for the same or would you like to beat them???????"

I know. I know, I have no shame!!!!

No, that's spot on. That's EXACTLY what you need to be doing. :D

What about trying retailers such as JJB etc.? Perhaps they have some slight seconds? Or old stock that didn't sell: perhaps the publicity would be worth more to them than old stock?

I think this is worth trying - it will certainly spoeed up the delivery and it is not only about niceness. It is a great undertaking a bit of positive publicity is a win win: for the matrix, for Richard and for the orphanages in SA.

Good, this is - how do we get to RB?
