I'll see what I can find in the random jumbly shop (honestly they have all sorts in there!) :)

Can you send a photo of all/ some of the shirts to get there before the actual items?

    Good idea.
I'd sort of planned (if it is possible :o) a photographic account of their journey for the page on the web-site devoted to Kits for Kids.

There will be a few people flying here before Christmas so we can get maybe 200 for the children in time. The remainder will be distributed to other Orphanages next year as part of a networking offensive (wrong word, but I'm struggling to explain :rotfl:) Basically we've decided that if we can link up similar establishments, their voice would not be for 200 vulnerable children, but for 10,000 and that would be more powerful. And meeting their governors with the carrot of Football Shirts is more likely to happen.

I want the web-site NOW really :o It would explain things so much better than I do :)

So how long would it take to ship them by sea and clear customs? Its 11 weeks to Christmas - so if we really pushed it and got them together in a month, would that leave enough time?

Be worth it for the smiles on Xmas day -either that or we get creative about how to get them there:D

Could drive them there in 11 weeks - but that is probably taking the world tour a little too literally :rotfl:

    Waves hello to new thread:wave:

Sorry to hear about DS Claire.:o

My DD is in hospital- rushed in yesterday due to diabetes playing her up again. Funnily enough the postie delivered a letter to me today, with a marathon place offer for juvenile diabetes research foundation..fate methinks. Yes, i have to raise money for it- but the clincher for me was the fact i get a Pingu shirt:D He was DD2's fav cartoon character when she was little, so it is a no brainer.

Bob, that's great news about the marathon place! How's DD feeling today?

Brilliant idea OliveOyl - you will be creating your own matrix out there too.

Still - I'm not gonna tell the teams that as I collect them. We want 10,000 smiles for Christmas :D:D

If anyone fancies looking the numbers out for the Press Office of all the big teams we could each call a couple and blag some shirts??? Just a thought

it would be a 21day sailing time to Johannesburg and there is a 'closing' date which is usually 2 or 3 days before the vessel sails. Then once the ship arrives the other end it takes poss 2-3 days to complete the import proceedure and then you have the transport time from port to destination.

    *stumbles in*

Usual freight time to SA is 4 weeks.

Groupage (shared use) would take longer to clear through customs than if you had sole use of a container.

You may also have to factor in UK transport costs to the port / container base. This can actually sometimes cost more than the actual ocean freight costs. Plus delivery costs from port in SA.

But then you may be hoping to get the forwarder to pay for the freight / transport as a charitable donation.

    *and out again*

Claire & BOB - sorry to hear about the kids & I hope the hospital & the police sort them out.

Spent afternoon helping DH sort his old iPhone to give me - so now I can text woohoo.

But feel a plonker as there were tears when I realised my Mum's number hadn't mapped over. Have put it back in now but boy did that one come out of the blue.

So I'll be having a quiet night tonight folks but will be back all guns blazing tomorrow.....

I was just thinking something similar - I'm rubbish at phone calls but would be happy to put together a list of numbers if you like?
