But tell her, you get up, you rub yourself down, get your a**e to the job centre, be patronised a little, then work your butt off to find a new job. They're out there. She will be fine :-) She will come out stronger :-)

Hi
I know how this feels....I was made redundant last summer very unexpectedly. Come payday, there was no salary in anyones account and we were all told to pack up our desks and clear out... A few of the faces on here will remember this from another thread and this site and the people I have 'met' through it, literally saved me in so many ways.
I live 500 miles from all of my family, this site was my greatest means of support.
She should come along and join our ride! But in the mean time, my heart really goes out to her xSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

She had a payslip on Monday and nothing in the bank today :eek::eek:, thankfully though the whole company hasnt gone under. She has told them she has direct debits that comeout today and will have bank charges if they are not honoured so its a case of calculating what they owe her for 3 weeks and they w ill honour that. (So she's been told) fingers X'd :mad:0

Sending positive vibes to those that need them xx
Today has been a positive one for me.....firstly, I stayed the same at WI. I reached goal in July, and made the decision then to stop counting points, or worrying about what I ate, and to just trust myself and my feelings and to adapt accordingly. (Have spent a life time of yo yo dieting, so this was a big brave step for me). Since the end of July, I have stayed the same weight, with just a 2lb variance either side, so this is proving a lot to me on so many levels.
Secondly, Adult Ed have been on the phone over the last couple of days asking me to do 6 Saturday workshops between now and the middle of Feb - things like Indian Head Massage, Reflexology, Building Self Esteem and Stress-busting, so I am more than happy with that. I will be using MGs mind maps to do my lesson plans - for the workshop that I have coming up this weekend I planned everything on a MM and it was brilliant. I will also be incorporating MMs in the self esteem and stress busting courses for the learners, so thank you MG for giving me the tools to enable me to do those things :T
Thirdly, My DS has been called up to ski for England Schools.....he has been in the squad for the last couple of years, but there was a question mark over his selection this year due to an unfortunate error of judgement by one of his team mates.......but my request to the universe has paid off. All I need to do now is to pay for it (see number 2, above lol).
And fourthly, bizarrely, I feel positive about the spending cuts announced today. I am a die hard member of MSE, and if I can't cope with spending cuts then it is a pretty poor show!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Well, my proud, beautiful, stubborn:eek: girl just announced she has no intention of going to the job centre because, there is NO WAY she is claiming benefits . Am assuming this means she intends to be gainfully employed very shortly.
She worries me sometimes, and I'm not slating her just praying she is being realistic too. Argh kids, I have 4 DS's as well as DD too so I know what I'm talking about. Ouch x0 -
Fantasia322 - do check on the employment board as to what money your daughter should receive on being made redundant, e.g. paid notice, holiday pay etc., it might only be 10 weeks, but it doesn't mean she's not legally entitled to some money even though statutory redundancy won't kick in yet. Make sure she signs on asap etc..
On the job hunting, as you know from the matrix here contacts count. Get her to pass around to family, friends and work/college colleagues (past/present) that she's looking, she might hear of jobs before they're advertised. Otherwise yell.com etc. for local companies in the same field as the one she's been made redundant from, as they may have similar job openings coming soon.
Can also be worth looking into more training etc., if the funding makes it viable.0
