Just a quick question. Am half way through reading The Secret ( started yesterday on my fuzzy day).
Did other people find reading it that random thought started popping into their heads? Am I supposed to write these down? They are coming quick and fast and all over the place.
PMA coming back so going to do some 15 min burts this afternoon.
Fantasia: Sorry about DD but good on her for PMA. Know what you mean about MUm's.Debt at start of DMP 1/6/09: £2942 - £1942

She worries me sometimes, and I'm not slating her just praying she is being realistic too. Argh kids, I have 4 DS's as well as DD too so I know what I'm talking about. Ouch x
Ok I'm not a benefits expert, but here's what I know, hope it's right.
Even if she doesn't want to claim benefits, you do get NI contributions credited for signing on. Also there are free courses etc to help you with job hunting techniques. If she's paid sufficient NI contributions she would get contributions paid JSA which is effectively you've paid over time, so that you get the JSA if you don't have work, it is just a state version of an insurance scheme for if you're out of work.
Maybe she should investigate it a little more before writing it off totally.
With means tested JSA she could get access to lots of other training etc., which could help the job hunting.0 -

It's worth signing on even if she's out of work for just a few days/weeks, because they take care of your National Insurance contributions....

Ok thanks people - will pass this on.
This is actually 3rd time she's been made redundant,
1st time it was voluntary, about 4 years ago.
2nd time was during her quantity surveyor training after 18 months, but she applied for and got a job as a project co-ordinator within the same company. She left that to take this 'dream job' and they tried to head hunt her back but she didnt go with it. (She should have).
SO never been unemployed (just on maternity leave for 8 weeks) when her dd was born in 2000.
Think she needs to look into JSA for defo :mad:0 -

I have just spent an hour or so reading the full text of the spending review. Oh yes, i have such a lovely life! One of the bits I found particularly interesting was part of the Higher and Further education part of the spending review. They state quite clearly that one of the things they want to do is "improve information and advice for learners" (page 25 if anybody wants to find it!).
I immediately thought of you. As your unoffical marketing guru, can I suggest this is a market to seriously exploit? I don't about other insitutions, but the one I work at is fretting. Seriously fretting. Offering an easy alternative and a way to kick a students studying into gear would really be a selling point. Yes, it will cost a bit... but you have to speculate to accumulate, right?

Right I have had some pms already thank you about collectors for various areas of the country for the kits for kids but I was thinking about it in the car on the way to the meeting we need to keep it as simple as possible for people to get shirts to us so I wondered what people thought about me setting up a special kits for kids email address which we could add to the posters for those requests that are going nationwide such as aleksrothis earlier post and whereby one person can't be responsible for all the collections and then whoever has shirts can request them to be collected via the email and we can find the nearest person to them and get them to liaise direct.
What do people think?
In the meantime if you are willing to collect in a certain area can you pm so we can build up a nationwide list.
Thanks DTxx0 -
