I'm also bumping as the LR figures show the Halifax ones to be a tad off:
http://www1.landregistry.gov.uk/houseprices/
They are not a tad off. They are all different index's to be taken on their own merits.
All 3 index's are falling, at this current time.
Based year on year, they are all up. But those year on year figures are mostly made up of what's been and gone, and not really all that relevant today, now that we have moved into a different climate.
I see how they are relevant over the long term, but in terms of whether prices are falling or rising at this moment in time, looking at each quarter would be far more beneficial to get a true picture of what's going on at the moment.0 -

All 3 index's are falling, and the fourth which I don't think is worth taking much notice, rightmove, is also falling at this current time.

Funny, I thought the Rightmove index showed the largest increase since 2007 last month. Must of had it upside down or something.0 -

I think we can excuse "Mr Muddle" for misquoting Rightmove. He probably expected that under the current economic circumstances, asking prices would not have risen. I was also suprised by the figures.

No but I do know that the Land Registry figures are nearly always revised and it could be that they will be revised so that the figure is 0 or positive so its one of the indices where you could find your celebration turns to tears.0 -
