Given that the first post was on 7th October and the first 500-odd posts were apparently serious I think it's fair to say that locking this thread before the start of October would be interesting from a philosophical standpoint if nothing else.
  • There is no debate; prices have stabilised as the recent +3.1% showed. And those figures are more relevant and current than this threads.

Oh yes the index of what people are asking for there houses is much more important than an index which shows what people are paying for houses...

Remember a house is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

a bit of a school boy error - this index shows the purchase price of a house at mortgage approval stage not at what it was sold for.

the LR index "shows what people are paying for houses..."

!!!!!! could you confirm that i've bumped this thread please?

To true a school boy error, but the point is its more relevant than the rightmove index ghouls is holding onto so tightly.

Halifax -3.6%. coupled with Nationwide -0.7% (but according to the BBC, house prices are still 1.4% up on a year ago :rotfl:), you`d think the property rampers from Scotland and Thailand would be out in force.

It`s a bit :shhh: from those areas, isn`t it ?
30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. Savings : That's asking for ridicule.

bumping as 2days nation-wide figures compliments these ones

I'm also bumping as the LR figures show the Halifax ones to be a tad off:
