Spoke to one of the local drivers this week and he was telling us they expect it to drop to single figures within the month. Who knows. What he did say was his hours were cut to the bone

Well the lowest I managed to get, here in Norfolk, was 26p. Heatingoil.co.uk was 27p but cps undercut it the most, so ordered with them.

    AND ............ buy a second tank. :D

Seriously, at these prices it is now cheaper (for me anyway) to have the heating on for an hour for the whole house than to have a 2kw heater on in one room for an hour. :j

(Disclaimer: I will not get into any technical discussions about this, btw - yes I am aware of the many variables.)

manda1205 - yes, it is quite annoying how even a relatively short distance can affect pricing even if you shop around.

Well after years of supplementing the heating with logs and coal it's now cheaper for me to keep the heating on at a low level. Yes the house is guzzling oil but today I got 900 ltrs for £204

    Smokeless is now £19

I feel sorry for my coal merchant as this winter ( October till now) I've only had three sacks delivered

Sadly (perhaps) my oil CH doesn't quite do the job unless it is fairly mild but it has been astonishing to watch oil prices drop while the handful of major coal companies left operating in the UK stick to their high prices, despite the major fall in world coal prices.
  • And ........... STILL on the way down; 21.55ppl+ this weekend. :)

Not far off the sub-20ppl I predicted in December - and it will go lower yet, I'm sure. ;)
  • We've just paid £122.54 for 500 litres in rural north wales (24.51 per litre)
  • Whilst we're all grateful for lower prices, it's not as cheap as it SHOULD be.

Despite a "wobble" last week in the price of crude it seems that - as is usual at this time of year AND as we hit a "cold snap" - heating oil companies are being greedy.
Crude oil is currently trading at around $27/barrel - so heating oil should be much nearer 20ppl (or even just under, as I predicted).
