Certainly nothing in life runs smoothly when it comes to cars.
Hope that you can get it sorted out soon.

    We can laugh together :rotfl:

I have a friend who says ' Life wasn't meant to be easy'. She is correct. But we can all enjoy and celebrate the good times.

Today I have gone a bit daft on spending.

£56 on petrol. We have been back to see DA. More on her later.
£52.50 in Continental supermarket in Newcastle.

I bought 20kg basmati rice 2kg chick peas, 2kg vegetable samosas, and lots more. Much cheaper than usual supermarkets. Having 20kg rice will see us through the Winter so if we are snowed in we always have something quick to cook. I have huge bags of dried kidney beans, chick peas, lentils etc.

ETA A sack of onions too

Sounds like good buys from the continental supermarket.

I have been very busy trying to get my head round what happens when a person can't make all their own decisions. Care home or home helps etc.?

DA did tell me if she ever had to go in a care home she wants to go in a Catholic one which has made choosing one a bit easier as there aren't very many.

Lots of time spent going round in circles:rotfl::rotfl: Lots of phone calls and lots of miles travelled :) I have to smile, but maybe a bit hysterically :rotfl:

Back on the ground at home: we have DSIL staying in our cottage which is great so we had them in for dinner last night. Fish Pie with lots of vegetables from our allotment and her garden :) and fruit salad. It cost me an extra £20 at coop but it was an easy thing to make for a Pisciperian??, fish eating vegetarian.

It is amazing how the vegetables DD put into the ground months ago and left have thrived. None of us have had a spare minute to keep on top of the weeding but we have lovely neighbours who do some strimming and a bit of weeding too for us.

Today DS1 is home from Florida. Mr P was asked to work today, first day in three weeks now, so we are relieved, but had to find someone else to go to Manchester for DS1. Luckily DB was on hand and very kindly offered. We gave him £40 for petrol but DS1 says he will give it back when he sees us. When I asked he said 'Of course' :D

I am babysitting DGD today and can see Mr P from the window. Trying not to look because he is up on very high scaffolding re-pointing a chimney stack.

He should have two day's work :D

Garage bill is down to £500 so it is quite an achievement in such a short time.

The local garage is coming to pick up DS3's car as although Mr P and I got it going it had run out of petrol and we think it dragged up some muck from the bottom of the petrol tank and it would't drive, just kept misfiring.

Although I know how to clean out a carburettor Mr P doesn't and he decided that DS3 will be happy for it to be sorted at the garage. Hope he is right......

To keep myself a tiny bit sane I have been trying to do a bit of sewing in the evenings. I have actually completed one cushion cover and have almost finished second one in less than a week.

They are birthday gifts from about ten years ago. By that I mean I was going to give them as gifts years ago.:D

Tuna pasta bake for dinner tonight. Tomorrow we have DSIL and DB and hid dad and then 8 of us for dinner tomorrow. I am going to make a Chinese meal but with vegetable samosas as snacks before hand. I know they don't go with it but it will give me a bit of breathing space. Some of the costs from the coop shopping is for tomorrow's diner too.

Tomorrow I will be having new front tyres for my car too. Kwik fit are coming to the house so it will hopefully be a painless process. Last time the driver had a bad crash and the van ended up on it's side in a field. :o

Babe is awake again so must go and liberate her :D

  • Thanks brizzled You encouraged me to get back to it :D

Another busy day here. Mr P took our old oil tank to it's new home and made a few more pennies. Not sure how much but it went straight towards another debt. I forgot to ask :D

He set off really early and then immediately after he left I discovered that little dog had a really bad upset stomach. It took some cleaning up then I found more. It is the third day she has been off colour so off we went to the vets and she had a painful tummy, high temperature and suspected cystitis. Three medications are required and it cost £50!!

Because big dog might also have a problem the vet suggested we don't feed them tonight. Hence two pests most of the evening :D

I was so pleased thinking I had a NSD but forgot about the vets fess. I think I was in denial.

Mr P's old union rang today to say he is not eligible for any help. It is good that we now know. We haven't drawn a line under looking for funding yet. Things are still changing and more funding comes available for green energy all the time.

We are not averse to a loan or paying for it under the green deal. Though I feel if it isn't sorted before the Winter kicks in here I may need to move out to somewhere warmer.

DA is continuing to improve physically :) but is very confused still :(

How I wish I knew what the right thing to do is.......... I have applied for a care home on her behalf for 2 weeks convalescence and made contact with the home carers in case she prefers to be at home... ...

We need to buy her a Winter duvet as she has given hers away. Luckily I found out about it before she goes home. We can make sure she is nice and cosy. DD and I are going to go and do some cleaning over the weekend while one of the men cuts the grass and another looks after DGD :D

  • Pooh, I am so sorry for typing your name incorrectly on my last post.
I have just corrected it. :o I really should check what I type. :o

Your life sounds so hectic. Don't forget to have some time to yourself. You're such a busy caring person. :)

    Take care.

We have just had another very busy weekend. We have spent £20 in the coop on some fish, jacket potatoes, bananas and wine.

Also spent another £56 on petrol. We can cut down in other ways as DA is much more important than anything alse.

We went to see her on Saturday as DC said she had moved ward and was very agitated. It is because she is on a mental health for elderly ward. We left as soon as DH and DD had finished cleaning the cottage. I wanted to go and explain, in person, why she had been moved. She was still upset that her hair hadn't been washed for 4 weeks.

I knew I was going to be back in her home time for a Christening yesterday so I asked for keys to the house and got a little team from my family together. We went over early and Mr P cut the grass in DA's garden, DD emptied and cleaned out her fridge, I sorted out some clothes for her as I knew from holidays with her which clothes she was asking to be taken in for her. DSIL went and talked to neighbours who didn't know what had happened to DA. DS2 made coffees and was our runner. It only took an hour but DA had her mind put at rest a bit more.

I find it sad that those who live nearer can't find any spare time to visit. DC and DA5 have been visiting but at the Christeng I made sure I told lots ofrelatives which ward DA is in, hoping they might visit. AND as I was leaving another DC who lives 200 miles away arrived to visit. :)

Today DS1 and I are going to start writing his guest list ready for sending out invites for his wedding next year. I am hoping today will be a NSD as I haven't had many this month.
